Shop: The Flower Hut

Located in: Charlotte, NC -- home of the Panthers!

Type Of Business: Retail Florist

About Me: About 20 years ago, I tired of corporate Life. My wife, Sardha and I started the Flower Hut. Neither of us jnew anything about the flower business, and that proved to be one of our keys to success/longevity. Since we didn't know that "you don't do it that way" we used the sound business practices that had worked well in other industries.

(Of course, every once in a while we learned that there was a really good set of reasons why -- with specific issues -- "you don't do it that way!")

We have a stand-alone building on one of the most traveled streets of Charlotte. We also have a full-service Ecommerce website hosted by Yahoo!

I have been an amateur radio operator since 1956, like experimenting with antennas, and love trout fishing when I can get free!

Welcome to FlowerChat!!
But to heck with the Panthers........
Charlotte: Home to Lowes Motor Speedway (and the future drag strip LOL )

Hello Cathy and thanks for the welcome!

Yep... that's mine. I got sooooo tired of seeing local orders being passed through OGs!

By coincidence, I got an email from a marketing co -- Mojon -- offering to send a PR notice out for a relatively inexpensive price. I wrote the PR and the paper in half a day. Then I decided to also post it on our website, www.flowerhut.com

The only insight that I might add is the following: I firmly believe that the floral market size reduction that we are seeing is
a direct result of these order gatherers. This is an example of what I call
the "veracity of the general market." Fancy words that mean that if the
general market is behaving in a certain way, it is for very good reasons.

Customers see these order gatherers ads on TV and on the internet. They place their orders expecting full value. When they (consistently) do not get their money's worth, they assume that all flower suppliers are rip-offs and simply stop buying.

The sad thing is that not only are the wire services participating in this
scam, they are encouraging others to do so by means of the "sending bonus."

Do the math and you'll see how important this is to an order gatherer

All The Best... Bill

I believe it was your Press Release and White Paper that I posted about yesterday.

Would love to hear more of your insights. :)
