Having a "day" here.. big new years eve wedding and is it full of extras.. I am tired and most of the staff has the flu.
Told bride I would wrap the stems in ribbon but it just don't look right to thick . using double sided satin.. tried double sided tape- that is to thick. done this before for smaller wedding & proms - any easier ways or tips?

I use a little dab of floral glue to hold one end and then wrap it tight and use another little dab...for a little extra I then wrap thin gold or silver wire on top. the wire holds everything secure and also adds a little shine and reflection.

I would use floral tape as a base. Then, start near the top of the stem and wind down. When you get to the bottom, turn it upside down keeping the shiney side out and wind back up the stem and tie a simple knot at the top. Sometimes I might use a tiny dab of glue at the back of the flower to hold the ribbon in place.

how much of the stem did you leave on the flower? I have seen designers leave the stems too long, thus causing a thick stem look. I only leave enough of a stem for the floratape to catch coming down from the neck. From there the wire becomes the stem thus leaving a nice thin "stem".

As far as ribbon wrapping, I would do the same as Carol - down - back up and slip knot it.

Sorry I didn't see your post during the day...but for future reference...we wrap every bout for every wedding we do. The best thing (with the least mess) we have found to use is Glue Dots..the small ones or even better, Glue Dots now makes a long "string", not round dot...it works great. NO glue mess on your ribbon.

Thank you all for your help! My hands were just cold & worn out. After the first couple they just clicked. I don't leave my stems to long but the bride wanted them longer and when I wrap the stems I also go back up the stem and use a cut off bout pin to keep in place. I have never tried the glue or glue dots but I will try it next time. It was a long night .. Thanks again,
Kerrie
