Hi all,
this is my first post. Last month I sent a letter to Andy Potter at Teleflora to cancel our membership. To date, no response. I unplugged the computer with Dove and am not taking any more orders. Why? I bought this shop 5 months ago and I have my own website but one day I found the "View our storefront" llnk on findaflorist and I almost lost it. I realized any order placed through that probably not go to our store. I called Teleflora 3 times to ask them to remove it. The first time I was hung up on. The second time I was told flat out NO and that there is no law against creating an ecommerce website with my info on it . The third time (after speaking with my lawyer) I was still told my request was denied but yet two days later the link was gone. Then I started a google adwords account to promote our website. so...I found out about all the OG's and how many are listed with local address and phoney local phone #'s. It is gross and all I want to do is cancel our membership with Teleflora but they are ignoring me and I fear they will just keep sending bills for membership. I know this stuff has probably been talked about a million times but I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to expedite this process of canceling membership. thank you

Hi, I did not send it by registered letter. but, I did leave a voicemail on Andy Potters phone regarding the letter. If I don't send it by registered letter does that mean they will just say they did'nt receive it? I think I will have to leave some more voice messages. Maybe if I am annoying enough?

Be sure to send it again, and by registered, return receipt...

Oh and also, be sure you owe them money when you quit, not them owing you.

Just an additional thought, they still follow the printing cycle for the book publication, to cancel your membership - for example, if the deadline for publication for April-May-June book was Dec 20, then you're a member till the end of June if your letter was not rec'd by Dec 20th. We quit FTD last year - it was mid cycle & past the deadline, so we were members for another 2 months, till the next deadline. I sent it my registered letter, e-mail to the correct membership dept, and faxed to the same dept. Call and they'll tell you where to send the letter.

I don't think there's any easier way to get out than a certified letter, and waiting till your time is up. If you're not getting any response, keep calling & leaving messages. They don't have to be nasty, just direct.

Unfortunately, it's not a cut and run kind of thing to cancel, so I think you just have to wait it out if you've missed a deadline.

Good luck,
tracy

PS = FTD did acknowledge our cancellation, though I'm not sure how TF works with it. If I did not get an acknowledgement, I would have followed up like you are.

I'd re-send that letter, registerd mail. Since being in TEL is a MEMBERSHIP, by law, they have to honor your request. BUT, as Tracy pointed out, you're probably stuck within the directy cut-off dates. TEL will stick to it's guns on that. Look into the cut-off dates, then call Member services. Make sure you're scheduled to be out by the next cut-off deadline.

Good luck, Chez. All of the above posts are correct. Also, remember that florists have a certain # of months after receiving an order from you in which they can report the order. It may take several months to be completely free.

Hello and thank you for your help. I am sending a certified letter today. I was told the cut off date was Jan 1. Now I am being told that was misinformation. Yesterday someone from TF called to ask why I was canceling, I told them, they asked if I had sent a letter, I said yes about 1 month ago, they then said, "actually we received it Dec 26th. So why ask? You have the %&$!# letter! as for other shops reporting orders I sent.
I never sent any orders out, I looked up shops with 800 numbers and told customers to call direct. I don't feel like taking peoples money for nothing, and they are now repeat customers. There is a better way for me and its not bad old fashioned wire services. If it works for your shop, fantastic, but I'd rather spend my membership money on health insurance.

THis is one of the biggest mistake a shop do for cancelling their membership.
THey all assume that when you send a cancellation of membership it ends right then and now.
Like in previous post, do get out you are stuck with them for three months.

Do get you out of the book, it must be before the deadline marked in the directory.
They will still bill you for three more months because they say they may have more shop reporting orders on your statement. So no matter whta you do, you are still accountable to any wire service 90 days after.
If they receive the letter on the 26th. You may be able to say that the letter was post marked before the due date. I am sure that 6 days will not make a difference to get you out in the next directory, especially since it is christmas and they probably did not enter your information before the 26th.
So, now it is time to write things down on when you talked to someone and who it was. You may still have a fighting chance to end it sooner.
Warning, it will be a battle....take a few breather and deal with it daily. Eventually you will be wire free.
This is information from both wire service. They work both the same way!

Get the positive out of it FIRST!

Chez,
I am not sure how the dove works, but I would get all the positive out of the machine first or while you are progressing out of teleflora. By this I mean, you stated you have owned the shop 5 mths and I see some serious marketing to your advantage before you break all ties.... I have the mercury and on that I can go back real far in the documents on incoming orders, get a tally on the zip that most of orders go to, print labels with addresses of past orders for postcards, etc., (direct marketing) there is probably a gold mine there and you are not aware of it! So cut the dove on and get that information out of it. There are alot of FCers that can share that info with you on how to retrieve that information before you let that go.
On the main problem of getting out, have you ever heard of the squeaky wheel gets dealt with FIRST, especially if it is real loud! Keep continually calling, emailing finding out the channel method and go up the ladder with calls and emails along with the registered letters, just like you stated you called several times about the find a florist and it was removed, I would think you need to address it almost if not more like the webpage issue. When you deal with the corporate level , the receiving only goes by certain things... like for example in the hard copy directory they have a fax sheet to get out of advertising, resigning from the service the worker bees only look for certain items which is in that directory, you throw thru the fax a stationary sheet stating you want out that is out of the ordinary and gets thrown to the back burner! So I would fill out those sheets in the directory all of them that pertains to getting out in full (i.e. advertising, resigning, etc.) then you have all that to turn to a lawyer as you went by the book on all counts.
Hope this helps,
Cyndi

I feel your pain - I went round and round with them worthless TF Piece Of S--- good for nothing sons of @@@@@es. I hope they all burn in Hell some day for what they do. Cancel as you have done, don't pay them and let it go into collection, then dispute their claim and file a complaint with your State attorney's office. Don't give up and pay them anything - they are betting you will. Keep good records of your communications and do everything in writing. I pray for the day of the class action law suite. I hope they get what they deserve. Rotten bastards!
