Hi everyone,

I live in Toronto, Canada and I started a wedding floral home-business. I am very excited but new to the business so I wanted to get some advice from you.
Doyou have any advice for a newbie like me? Is there anything I should look for - good or bad, when starting a business?

thank you for your help

Do you have previous floral experience???

Hi. Welcome to FlowerChat.

The first piece of advice I'd give anyone about to launch a floral design business is to be highly experienced with an existing portfolio of his/her own work. It's a very competitive field and inexperienced designers generally have a tough time competing on more than price - which is a very tough way to produce income.

FlowerChat focuses on the issues of full-service, professional flower shops although we do have a number of successful studio florist members.

Best advice - stick around and read. There's many many facets to this thing and no silver bullet.

regards

bloomz

One other bit of advice.....CONTINUAL EDUCATION !!!!!!!!!!!!

To be succesful in this industry.........you can never learn enough, or attend enough seminars, or view enough design programs, or network enough with other professionals.
