We are working on a quote for a wedding and the brides flower colors are orange and yellow with bright greens. They are doing two types of centerpieces and they need to be cheap($10-15 excluding the vases).

We thought of doing the tall centerpieces in a 24" cylinder (provided by reception location) and putting limes, tangerines, lemons and oranges in it with the fruit submerged and perhaps greenery swirled in the bottoms so there is interest on the top and the bottom of the vase.

Would it be possible to float a candle on top of the fruit? Haven't had time to play with the concept and the bride wants to see a sample this weekend.

The short centerpieces are 8" cylinders with two bunches of hand tied carns (green & orange separate) in different lengths on an angle in the container. These will have sand in the bottom.

I'm just really struggling with the tall vases and the floating fruit. Any other suggestions on how we might do that better?

Thanks for the help!

How about cutting your fruit into different shapes, halves, quarters and slices, and threading the peices onto decorative aluminum wire. Create some curls and tendrils along the wire, between the peices of fruit, then put it inside the vase. It will take way less fruit, and the wire will add some visual interest.

I love this! I'm going to give it a try! Thanks!

Met with the bride last night .. we decided to go with submerged spray roses in varying heights.. lots of color and minimal expense.

Interestingly, for the low vases we came up with an idea to fill short vases with a bit of sand and put some golf balls inside on the sand and floating a votive. Around the vase we are sprinkling their custom printed golf tees. It should be really cute. They are big golfers and the wedding is at a country club.

Thanks for all the feedback. Ill find a way to use the fruit idea at some point!
