Does anyone have any ideas on how to get oriental lillies to open quickly??:ssmoke

We do the warm water with clear plastic tubing tied up over the top of the flowers, then put that bucket in another bucket that has HOT water in it. Play around with the depth of the water in the second bucket as the first one can float if it's too full.

Change the water in outer bucket as it cools.

removing the greens makes a big difference. we recently had trouble getting some lilies to open for a wedding...put them in warm water, created a "greenhouse" with bag over bucket, etc. it wasn't until we removed all the greens that we really started seeing some results.

p.s. didn't try it, but i heard that adding sugar to water helps them to open, too.

Personally, I have never tried it, but more than a few FC'ers swear by the method of putting some lily anthers/pollen in the bucket with the flowers.

Now, John Henry Company did make a product.........and they may still do......called FM BudMagic.........that is specifically formulated to help flowers open. I know that product works and works WELL.

Definately pollen in the water and take off the leaves. We put them in the greenhouse, but if you don't have one the clear plastic bags or a bright sunny window. You can almost see them opening :)
