I Have a customer who wants french tulips curled and layered into a glass cylinder. Should I condition them when they come in and then take them out of water then know how long should I leave them out of water before I curl them. Any help will be appreciated...:dunno:

I think just leaving them out of water at room temp. for a couple of hours will make them pliable enough for what you want to do.

YES.....Leave them out of water till the stems are pliable......prepare your vase WITH WATER......Cut the stem just before you curl the tulips into the vase.....let them drink and harden off......with the vase full of water.....then pour out your water leaving enough to cover the stems ends so they can drink.

You can also take your knife and peal a strip of the stem from tip to bloom which will make them completely curl-able. :flower:

you can do the same with callas

Stroking with gentle but firm pressure (following the natural curve of the stem) from top to bottom several times will accomplish the same thing.

Seriously :)

(They do need to be left out of water at room temp for 2-3 hours before attempting this technique as well)
