Canadian side is lots better! I've been there more times than I can count or remember. My parents took me there a few times every year when I was small. I I went there for my honeymoon with my first husband and also with Neal (my husband now). Lots to do and just gorgeous. We did not stay in a hotel with falls view either time. First time was in a Best Western right next door to the Skylon Tower - the tall skinny place with a revolving restaurant on top and a mini carnival inside the first two floors. The motel was brand new back then and very modern and cool (1981) but now is probably just another motel - no big deal. Neal and I stayed at Ramada Coral Inn Resort Hotel (1999).

it is 3 miles from the falls out on Lundy Lane with most of the other motel and hotels in Niagara Falls. We stayed in the honeymoon suite with a big hot tub in it's own separate area next to a gigantc bathroom, had a king size bed, separate living room, kitcheny area, fireplace, etc. for one week for $560.00 after the exchange. We loved it.
You have to decide if you want to spend a lot of money on a view. We were at the falls every day or night and had lots of "view", but for some people it is a priority and worth paying extra for.
I will also warn you about the fancy Victorian Inn Restaurant right across from the Falls. I ate there a few times and I have sworn it off - so highly overpriced and the food is tiny "gourmet" type portions and tastes like Big Boys food. Don't get sucked into the look or novelty of it. They may have changed, I have not eaten there for five years.
It's very touristy, but we like that stuff. Hope you gave a great time, I am sure you will.
Don't miss the nightime Falls witht he colored lights, it is done at 10pm sharp.
Oh yea, if your adventurous don't miss "Maid of the Mist". It's the boat that goes down right next to the falls. You wear raincoats and boots and hats. It's really fun!!!
Sorry, I'll stop now. I just love Niagara falls.
