I know Sher was all impressed by your continuing efforts to find out how she is doing with the hurricane in her neck of the woods that she sent some your way. From the reports I am getting on the news I was wondering if my friends in Dundas are alright also.
Did you get any flooding?
Luc

no....

but I have to call BBJ....to see how he fared.....most of the heavy rains travelled east of us...some areas really got aquainted with "Frances".....

BBJ's high and dry

We're just fine, but our sump pumps are getting a little tired, the rain was spread out over 24hrs and caused some flooding in Ottawa and a fair amount of flooding in Kingston but over all I would say everyone faired quite well considering it was the most rain over a 24hr period on record......just over 5".

Just glad it wasn't SNOW!!!!!

Here' comes another one, worse than the last one!

Well boyz, Ya'll better be getting those sumpie pumpies oiled up again. We have a monster headed our way called Ivan the Terrible and once he is done with us, looks like he will eventually be in your neighborhoods. One things for sure is that we won't have any water restrictions down here for a long time. Our pals in Jamaica are getting bombarded as I type. It is a category 5 right now and we won't know exactly which side of the state it will take a swipe at. We are prepared again as best as we can be but I don't want to look at our numbers for this quarter. Even Calculator Bill would be speechless.............hard to sell flowers when folks have bigger needs. Take care and let's all do a florist prayer........with that volume She is bound to hear us!
Sher

too much water part 998

I've had my head in the sand so long this week I didn't even realize where Frances went. Sorry to hear that our friends to the north had to deal with a deluge... hope you are all bailing out and are safe and dry soon! You could always come to sunny south florida to dry out!

Sher....

I've been following "Ivan" from it's birth, and the @@@@dest thing..about what you said...I think you are right.
Ivan, on it's present course, will become our modern era "Hazel" that slammed into Southern Ontario in '54.
This particular cane, is gaining strength, is moving a little faster, and it's path is very unclear, and it COULD still shift to the east, cross the panhandle, and back out into the Atlantic, BUT, looks like Destin better watch out, and the central east states, and southern Canada will learn about the forces of nature.
Mother Earth is lashing out for the scars we are leaving on her, and Mother Nature, is toying with the idea, that we need to be taught a lesson about preserving our fragile little planet.

We could only hope that this WILL BE THE LAST ONE THIS YEAR for you guys.
I am sure that a lot of people are getting tired of being slammed.
THese storm wil affect a lot of people in the flower industry. Some of our greens come from florida and they have warned us that a shortfall will happen in the near future.
I am sure other things will increase in price also, as we know citrus fruits are one of them.
May the confort of God be with you during this storm.
and "This to shall past".
