Last week I attended a wonderful design show at Sieck Wright Wholesale in Hightstown, NJ. The show was organized by members of the Teleflora Penn Jersey Unit and featured lots of creative ideas for weddings and events.
I thought I would share some of the many photos we took of her fabulous designs. This style of work has always intimated me somewhat, feeling "out of my league", but Hitomi's style of presenting definitely de-mystified the processes behind such incredible work. We went home inspired to think mechanically a little differently. If you have the opportunity to see her, I would recommend it - she's lovely to listen to, and her work is very inspiring!
1) artificial hydrangea florets and fresh dendros draping from decorative wire.
2) altar or entryway piece - next pic shows the mechanics
3) mechanics - notice how the flowers are very short, all flowers face forward for best visual value - genius! This was one of my faves.
4) hydrangea florets and buds wired for graceful draping - another favorite.
5) I forget which type of protea this foliage is from, but it made a stunning handle treatment.
6) Peony tulips - yum
7) Another creative handle treatment
8) Cut ti leaf - more genius. Love the color, but the width is hard to use. The cuts make it more ribbon like, easier to use.
9) Closeup of the handle mechanics
10) Flower Purse - cute!
11) Flowerbirl Basket - more cute!
12) Armband - great shot of mechanics to make the band.
13) Dreaded carnations - topped with orchids. She used carnations in almost everything, especially for texture as a "background", like you might use greenery. Great for covering mechanics.
14) A twist on the single flower budvase, using the curly branches to support the gerbera, instead of a straw.
