Joining FlowerChat Community

Hi all,

I'm the owner of Holland Nurseries in St. John's, Newfoundland joining FlowerChat as a new member. Friends in the trade have been bugging me for years to sign on and now I'm taking the plunge. When I see how many posts the really active members make, I'm a bit daunted. They are obviously better at multi-tasking than I am. It may take some time to get used to the house rules in this online community, but I'm looking forward to sharing experiences and concerns with others in florist community.

I got involved in the flower business 21 years ago when I bought Holland Nurseries as an investment. We're lucky to have talented and dedicated staff members who've been with the company for more than 30 years and know a lot more about floral design and growing flowers in greenhouses than I do. Thanks to them, we're still here. But as anyone who's been in floral the business for more than a few years knows, success requires more than artistic smarts and a green thumb. I've learned a lot about the floral industry from my involvement over the past 21 years; but I still have lots more to learn. I'm looking forward to broadening my knowledge through participation in the FlowerChat community.

Lots to think and talk about as we work our way through the current recession and all the changes that are taking place in our industry.

Welcome, John! I haven't seen you in a few years - glad to hear you're still in the biz and doing well.

Cheers,

Hi John....

I see, that Mr.Atkinson FINALLY "got to you"!!
Welcome to FlowerChat...you are amongst friends here...fear not.....
By the way, for those of you that don't know, "Mr.Atkinson" is ROCK

You can blame Rock. In fact I had registered years ago, but I forgot my username and was unable to access the forum. That's what happens when too much time lapses between logins and you don't keep a proper list of unsernames and passwords. I think the old account simply lapsed.

Hi Ryan,

Glad to be back on the Board. I thought it might be easier to re-register than to try and resurrect the old account under the same username. I trust all is well with you. Lots if interesting stuff from Strider. Well done!

John
