Calling all creative peeps.

I have been asked to decorate a room for a Hollywood themed event. I have never done this before and while i do have some general ideas such as reels of film, feathers etc etc, I was wondering if any of you had done anything similar.

Also, would anyone be willing to share pics so i could be inspired.

I have done this, it was for a fundraiser thing. Sorry I have no pics. We did a red carpet at the front entrance, a projector playing a movie against a wall (silently), paper stars hanging from the ceiling. We also had a sign made to look like the famous "Hollywood" sign with the name of the organization, and Marilyn Monroe and James Dean cutouts that people could take pics with.

I am sure other people here will have great ideas too! :cool:

I don't know what your budget is, but, this thought just occurred to me. On the hills above Hollywood, is a lit sign that spells out "HOLLYWOOD".
What about using those Oasis Letters that you guys use for funerals?
It could be in your entrance way. I would use stars throughout and I bet you can get fake oscars, etc. Or get pics of great stars, put them in a flower frame, or frame them any way with flowers around. Make each table a different Hollywood star. Definitely, a red carpet entrance.
Don't know why this one has me going. I got excited looking at it!!!

I think its really exciting to Cherrie. I love those ideas and wish i could incorportate stuff like that but they are mainly table centres that they require.

I am doing the chair covers for them and said i would bow them black and red with alternate table runners.

I was thinking of martini glasses for each table with feathers and dendrobian orchids coming out with a role of the film coming down and cascading around the stem of the vase.

I was then going to use 4ft foil star balloons for the stage.

They also want placecards on each place so this is a good for me too.

I would rather not say what the budget is online for everyone to see but I am thinking about £50 per table.

Carry on with these ideas, i love em... :)
 
how about some small "shadow" sillouettes of some stars like Marilyn (and the blowing dress) or Bogie's hat, made of foam core and glittered for addition into table pieces or larger for entry pieces

www.orientaltradingcompany.com has "movie" themed items in the party goods section. When I think of a hollywood I see director chairs, clap boards, the mgm lion, camera flashes and the stars on the side walk... this might be a neat place card... personal stars and film... DVDs(more modern looking) and Stars from the ceiling...just a few things... good luck sounds like fun!
