Last week, there was a tragedy that has touched my community. Three boys who were friends of my son and all went to the same high school, were killed in a horrible car accident. My heart is aching for these parents. My son is devastated as is everyone in the area. Two of the boys were 17 and Juniors and one of the boys had just turned 18 and was getting ready to graduate. We went to three funerals and I am just feeling horrible. Being in this business and having to deliver to funeral homes, I am sure you can relate to seeing things you just don't want to see. When I delivered flowers to one of the boys, the funeral director took me into the room before the viewing. It was absolutely horrible. I can not get the horrible image out of my head. All I could think of was my son was going to see his friend is such condition. This boy had taken everything to his face and I have never seen something that bad. When we went back for the viewing, thankfully, the funeral director had talked the family into closing the casket. I am just so thankful they did that, I can not imagine how tramatized the kids would have been so see him that way and that would have been the last image of him they would have had in their heads.
I made their high school logo (LCN) out of flowers and my son and I took it over to the crash site. I think it helped my son to do something to honor them and I know it helped me.
One of the kids from the school posted a beautiful tribute video on youtube for them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxgvWLnWyME
These kids are just reeling. The driver of the car who was only 17 had been friends with these boys since they were in elementary school. He survived, but had multiple broken bones and it is rumored that he tried to committ suicide. Please keep my community, the parents, all these kids, and my son in your prayers.
