No, I'm not in hot water...well I guess I am in a good way...

I just installed a Noritz tank less on demand hot water heater model N-0751-DV and I'm sooooooo happy! With 5 people showering between 5:30 and 7am everyday it was getting to be an issue....

I'm posting this cuz... anyone thinking about doing this now's the time, well January will be. (My plumber won't be billing me until January) In January you will get a $450.00 energy credit on your income tax for installing a tank less on demand system.

Honestly, even without the $450.00 I'd have done it...endless hot water is a dream come true... ;)

Boss, I always said if my current water heater takes a dump, Im going with this system. You can't beat it.
Might want not to wait.... never mind the tax credit, it's going to save me enough to pay for itself in two years...

Also put in a 98% efficient York furnace, that will get another tax credit and pay for itself in 3 years, with the gas savings alone...not to mention the variable speed fan that runs on DC instead of 120... cool beans!

I would love to have a hot water tank like the one you were describing. Would you care to share a round about $$ for such an item?

Sorry Mary Lou, missed your post...

Central unit... was advised against the others...not enough capacity.

Unit was $1399.00 with a $450.00 tax credit, plus installation.... lots of copper ;)

When we put a basement under our house a couple years ago, we replaced the traditional hot water heater for a tankless Rinnai. It was pricey and it had to be mounted on an exterior wall of the basement for exhaust purposes, but we love it! It has saved us so much in gas, it's unbelieveable! Of course, the best part is that it truly is endless hot water. It takes a little getting used to at first because you have to let the faucet run a little longer to get the hot water, but I can be washing dishes, washing clothes, filling the tub, and someone in the shower all at once with no problem. Be sure to look at the output of any unit you are considering so it can keep up with your demand. I know with the Rinnai, they only make them for gas rather than electric homes, and the reasoning is because it would use too much electricity to really be a cost savings. Oh, and I think these can even be mounted on the exterior of your home, and be OK in sub-zero conditions too.
