While using stumbleupon (Thanks Sarah Jane and Ryan for my new addiction...) I came across this awesome website. www.flylady.net
If any of you are like me, you're so busy that your house and office fall a bit behind.
In the last two weeks, using this website, I have completely improved my house.
They send about 10-12 emails a day, which is a lot, but it's very fast to sift through them.

Basically, they give you a plan for cleaning so you never have to spring clean again. They e-mail you daily "missions." I've been doing the missions everyday. Monday, I swept my front porch and wiped down my entrance way. Tuesday I threw away all my old magazines I've been keeping for no reason. Today, I wiped my dining room walls of all the fingerprints my kid leaves behind!
Tomorrow's mission is to clean out your entrance area, putting away shoes, coats, papers, purses and anything that shouldn't be there.

They recommend setting a timer for 15 minutes and when the timer goes off, just finish.

They've got plans for everything--->getting rid of clutter, cleaning routines, bedtime routines.

It's amazing how having my sink shiny and my bed made just makes my day.

Hope this helps anyone who needs it!

hmm, I spend at my home..... 6:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m and 5:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Out of that time at the p.m....... cook a meal, serve it, run grandkids where they need to go, attend meetings, American Leg. Auxiliary, Downtown Merchants, canine attention, laundry....... I wonder what they'd recommend I do in that time. Consider this, it's dark at 6:00 p.m. so no "light" to hunt down dust bunnies, etc after dark - can't vacuum (no lighted vacuum).....
Oh yes, and I forgot, the 1/2 day on Saturday and full day on Sunday (if not holiday or funeral), I spend time with my husband if he's off? Usually going to the city (to get what we can't in rural Maine), to camp, or just time together doing yard work, piling pellets for heat, ..... oh and I forgot, during the summer months, cooking and cleaning for my 79 year old father who's home from FL??
Glad it works for you Chantelle, but guess what, as the kids get older, your time shrinks to megaseconds.... LOL.....

lol oh for sure! When I go back to work, I'm hiring a cleaning lady!!
I guess I just love the reminders. I don't have to think about "oh gee, what should I clean today?" and I don't feel guilty anymore about not getting this or that done. That's the best part - no guilt!

I do my 15 minute "mission" and my hubby and I do a 15 minute clean-up after the kids are in bed.
I wipe my sink and toilet while I brush my teeth!

I LOVE FlyLady. It's the best way to keep a clean house when you are super busy. It takes less time than doing it in bigger chunks at a time. And the house stays clean with just small 15 minute increments so it never really feels like you spend much time cleaning. Thanks to FlyLady I no longer live in CHAOS (Cant have anyone over syndrome). FlyLady saved my life and my sanity a long time ago. I'm glad you found that. That's good stumbling.

A big thumbs up from our house for Fly Lady as well. Love the 15 minute approach and the concept of tackling the house in sections.

We first learned about Fly Lady at a Home Schooling conference in April, and it was especially helpful during the summer.
