I have a June Saturday wedding that will use 20 orbs made from carnations. I'm using Oasis wet foam. How far in advance can I make the orbs and place them in the cooler? It's a very big wedding so I would like to make em', bless em' and move em' a week prior to the wedding. Is that too far in advance of the wedding? Am I going to have problems keeping them fresh looking?

Just from trying some things out by trial and error, I found that I can make these several days in advance and everyday or so, I will go in the cooler and dunk each one in a bucket of water for about 10 minutes. I have never had a complaint about their lasting quality. '

It seems to saturate the foam and the flower......then let them drain off so botrytis will not set in. I have not tried for longer than six days.

Ask Kevin... he made them this past weekend for a conference

Just came from the WUMFA Conference this past weekend and Kevin Ylvisaker, AIFD, PFCI (Mukwonago, WI) (he's also part of the Teleflora Education Team,) showed over 100 bouquets as well as prom corsages and kissing balls. He stated that they made them Thursday and sprayed them good and they were still beautiful Saturday. He went on to say that he had another conference during the coming week and that some would still be great (and used) for that!

You might want to contact him for any other suggestions. His company is KLY Floral International.

What I have done is take a pie pan< Foil one> put in some crowning glory turn the heads up side down, and let them soak for a few, then you can put them in and they will last for quite some time, I make the large ones of gerbs for pools and they never budge..just make sure that the carns have no leaving on it, because they will mold on you..Hope this helps..
