Here are a couple pictures of Jennifer, my 12 year old. she loves hanging out with me when I am doing something in my garage/shop.

This is her very first pen. She cut the shape, I helped a bit with the refined cuts.

What a pretty little daughter! 12 huh . . .stand by with weapons!

Great workshop too--I have tool envy. She's a rockstar with that lathe--what a learning curve it requires!

That is so cool, Joe. She is awesome! I almost wish I had a woodshop so my children & I could lose fingers as a family! Tonight I took my 11-yr-old, Cecelia, to her BB gun target practice--got the bullseye almost every time--and she didn't even put her eye out!

there aren't too many 12 year old you can TRUST on a lathe.....tell her :thumbsup from Mikey, and Joe......GREAT JOB as a "teacher"!!

Congratulations, Jennifer, for a beautiful pen!

Congratulations, Joe, for a beautiful and talented daughter!

Joe, she did a great job. I am glad you weren't to "tired" from the holiday to spend that time with her...My husband would be jealous of that shop..He is hoping to clean out my Dad's junk from cellar and garage and make a nice area to buid in for himself and my brother, it will make things so much easier.

I put away my kitchen ware in my new cabinets and cleared the counters so I could do the tile backsplash on Monday..Glad I wasn't to "tired" either...

OMG, just wow at that pen, it looks brilliant. That talent is amazing, well done to both of you, its safe to say i am in awe of that!!

I love it! So cool to see a girl do not traditionally "girl" things. And what a nice way to bond with dad.

.

Cool father/daughter day and what a great pen. I also hung out with my youngest daughter, but I had to bribe her with shopping. She turns 14 next week. I miss the 12-year-old days when she would just hang. Enjoy every second of them as I'm sure you do.

I would like an exhaust system like yours set up so every leaf & stem I cut gets sucked into a bag!

Very cool day to spend with your girl - pretty pen too! Attentive dads rock!

Good eye, Tracy.

Yea that thing really "sucks".

Jennifer wants to make another pen. the next one will be a cigar pen.

It is a bit larger and hopefully 100pct kid doable.

btw: she also loves to chop mortises.

maybe she needs "her" own wood carving chisels? ;)
