there is a massive fire in downtown Dundas, in one of the business sections, pretty close to one of the other florists in town, and has been reported initially as having casualties, though NOT confirmed.....entire downtown is shut down, and is 6 alarms, at last reports....

I hope they get it under control quickly Mike and I hope no one is seriously injured. Glad you and yours are safe.

The Village Bakery has been destroyed, and firefighters are fighting to save the buildings of adjoining businesses!!
Susan and her family have worked EXTREMELY hard at making this family business a "go to" place

The last two years we have had large fires, my heart goes out to everyone and I hope they can contain it quickly.

Susan tried to contain the fire, but, was taken out in shock, as she watched her life long dream go up in flames....a customer, that was actually IN the bakery at the time, just left, and confirmed that the Christmas tree caught fire, and within seconds, burst up the window sills, into the ceiling cavity, spread across the empty space, and totally engulfed the structure within 2 minutes!!...there were about half a dozen customers in the bakery at the time...it's a total loss, BUT, no lives were lost, and except for smoke inhalation, & panic, everyone escaped with their lives!...by the way, the building was basically destroyed, within 9 minutes, and it took firefighters 7 minutes to respond...they have SUCH a tough and unyielding job!!

Mike, thanks for the update.

I'm truly sorry this has happened to all involved. Having survived a housefire I can empathise with the shock, loss and grief they will feel. The key word is survived and they, with help and if they choose, will build again. Bricks and mortar are replaceable.

Oh, Mikey, that is so sad. Hopefully she had insurances to cover? Did she have a live Christmas tree? We are banned from live trees unless they are fireproofed in commercial areas here.

Hope they had insurance.

Fires are worst to deal with in the winter time especially with cold weather and winds!
