Hi, a little advice about hyacinth please. Does it need a water source like stemson for stephanotis, or can it be glued directly for a wrist corsage.

Using a purple hyacinth plant. I will be picking the flowers.

We pluck off the florets and float soak them to make sure they are fully hydrated. Spray them with crowning glory or Hawaiian floral mist and then glue them into the corsage.

As long as they are properly hydrated from the start you won't have any problems at all.

Are you just using the small florets in the corsage?

I have never used hyacinths in corsage work. With that said I would think that given the heavy tough texture of the florets, you could probably just glue them in.

When I went to the CT florist convention & took a personal floral workshop, we worked with hyacinths, wired. No water source. We also did a small "string" where you used fine wire, hairpinned through one flower, and added additional flowers directly beneath the first flower, on the same wire. It was pretty neat, used 4-5 flowers and it really made them stand out.

thanks!

Yes, I am will be using just the florets. Thanks for the advice, can't wait to work with them; making a wrist corsage and bout. Plucked a flower this morning and it still looks good. So glad they don't need a stemson.

I think this may be a new spring favorite for me, and inexpensive too, I got one bulb plant for $1.62.
