Hi all. I've been in business 3 years. Currently undergoing a mixture of training, but have learnt to date mainly from experieced florists. Referred to FlowerChat through Flowershop Marketing website. Would like to gain wisdom, ideas and tips from other florists, and marketing ideas. I feel I can contribute my experience of running a successful floristry business, plus previous business experience from running a fashion retail store. I operate from a commercial building, where we have a large flower shop, workroom and office. Its about 5 miles from where I live. We concentrate/depend a lot on wedding work and corporate work, although our passing trade is quite good, it has reached its peak I feel. I am currently overhauling and remodelling my website to gain more business in the wedding/corporate areas.

Welcome Hydrangea! You are from the same place that my Grandpa came here from, years ago. :)

This is a great place, hope you enjoy.

Robin

Hello all!

Just a quick little note to say hello to all of you guys:). I'm from Ireland. Hydrangea is my username as it's my favourite flower at the moment, I'm getting a bit obsessed with them! Especially purple ones, they look divine next to green. Anyhow, I look forward to chatting with you all in the future and learning along the way. Bye for a while.

Hi Hydrangea,

There were a few questions on the page where you signed up. If you don't mind, please answer them so we can learn a little more about you and your business.

I am glad to see more Irish florists joining!! Looking forward to your reply!!!

Thanks SpringCity! Where was your Grandpa from in Ireland? Have you ever visited? Weather-wise, not too exciting, but if you like rain, come on over! :>

Hi there

Welcome aboard. Do you have a website we can take a peek at .. it's always nice to see our nrw friends in their 'home environment' ... I think you have a shop don't you.

Carrie

Hi hydrangea,

You must have 2 introduction threads floating around. I just asked you to answer the questions in your other thread, but I see you have answered them here. Maybe one of the moderators can merge the threads.

Welcome!!!

Welcome to the community Hydrangea. Ireland is beautiful. :)

Hi and Welcome. I also have a grandmother and grandfather that come over from County Cork. I hope to one day travel there.

Hi and welcome to flowerchat, i am currently trying to do my website so i am sure we will be chatting along the way... :spintongu

Thank you all for your replies...I've been missing for a few hours as I had to collect from school, and call to our shop... I do have a website, although I am in 'talks' with a designer to overhaul it. It has been giving trouble recently. I am fairly computer literate, but not au fait enough to redesign the site myself. It's at www.petalsfloral.ie I am hoping to add galleries to the wedding and corporate sections, as well as change the online shop, as there are too many options, and change all the pictures. It needs to be majorly polished up...but to be honest, when we started out we didn't have a whole lot of money to give to this area. Now I see it as an investment we need to make.
Hi Carrington, I get Florist & Wholesale Buyer incl Business Briefing every month, I find it extremely informative...Also, some day I would love to put our shop forward to be considered for the Master Florist title, if that can be sought after by a Irish Shop?
Talk soon.

Hi Hydrangea! My grandpa was from Cork, that's all I know. I do like rain. ;) I have never visited but hope to some day!

SpringCity, that's cool about your Grandpa! We're practically cousins! Cork is pretty small on a global scale...I wonder what year he emigrated...? A huge amount of Irish left here for the USA as I'm sure you know, over the past 150 years. Regards the rain, trust me, you don't want Irish rain! It has been raining pretty much non-stop for the past 4 weeks...my garden looks wild and crazy, and my poor Hydrangea looks a little sad, and if you read my intro, you'll know that I have a soft spot for this beautiful plant! I love Autumn though and I look forward to the crunchy leaves soon. I look forward to decorating our shop for Halloween, and then dare I mention Christmas...I LOVE Christmas, but as I have 5 precious children, from 5 months to 9 years, their excitement regards all seasons, is infectious!
Talk soon.
