I didn't get to see it either Mike...busy a work for much of the day.
:)

i did tune into the parade and saw the ftd float with the kids with faces beaming....they looked great.....the float was really beautiful with the butterflies and all....it was fairly early in the telecast and won the president's choice award.....it went by so fast it was hard to see.....the guys on the cameras are not really interested in the makeup of the floats i guess cuz they sure do not spend any time showing the handiwork.....wish there was special telecast just for florists because the workmanship in these floats is spectatular....and i would love a commentary from someone who knows how to pronounce the names of the flowers....i watched it from 3 networks and they all could have improved their commentary....ftd did a great job.....must have cost us a fortune

I tuned in here, the coverage I follow for the parade is from Ktla channel 5 in L.A. Leading up to parade morning, this network carries a extensive coverage of the volunteers and backstage as the floats are being finished. In the last several days, they also had more coverage of people being able to go take a close up look at the floats for $6.00 per ticket.

More background on Rose Bowl Parade:

I have found that the Hosts of ktla's coverage of the Rose Bowl parade to be much better than the regular 3 networks, and they have always provided a little history of each float or company or a bit of history on the City's name etc. I rate the coverage they do a 10 out of 10, and have been watching it on this channel for the past 5 years.

This year KTLA continued its tradition of televising the most famous parade in the world in high definition television (HDTV) when the Tournament of Roses Parade, “Children's Dreams, Wishes and Imagination,†airs on Channel 5 and on KTLA-DT (Channel 31) on New Year's Day.

As a warm-up to the 2003 Parade, KTLA will encore the 2002 Rose Parade, "Good Times," on December 29
(11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) featuring updates and highlights as Parade participants prepare for this year's big day.

On January 1, 2003, KTLA began its distinguished coverage of parade festivities:

6 AM Pacific - Backstage at The Parade hosted by Gayle Anderson, Stan Chambers, Lynette Romero, Mindy Burbano, and Marta Waller
7 AM Pacific - Parade Countdown hosted by Gayle Anderson, Stan Chambers, Lynette Romero, Mindy Burbano, and Marta Waller
8 AM Pacific - The 114th Tournament of Roses Parade hosted by Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards
Spanish Simulcast / Closed Captioning - KTLA also continues its commercial-free tradition, as well as Spanish simulcast via SAP, and closed captioning.

During the LIVE broadcast of the Rose Parade on January 1, 2003, Bob and Stephanie answered as many questions from emails as possible from the broadcast booth above the Parade.

If'n ya did not watch HGTV ya'll missed the best coverage I have ever seen....

Prior to the parade, they did a full hour on float construction, then showed the parade commercial FREE....

Described alot of flowers used, where they came from etc....

Hmmmm that would have been nice to seen, sadly our Canadianized version of HGTV didn't have anything about it. **** CRTC.

HGTV does the best job. But Rebecca Kohls? kept calling Statice Strawflowers or something else. Rob Weller did correct her a couple of times. Darn it, watched the whole darned thing but took dog out during FTD's float...what timing.
