Just out of curiosity, being home based, Are you a legitimate operating business with all the proper licenses, business taxes, and the like associated with a operating business?

Thanks for the question about my business being legit. The answer to that questions is absolutely! I am registered as a sole proprietorship with the state of MN and have the appropriate tax ID and am very much a real operating business.
I've been operating my business now for over 5 years and one of the reasons I keep it in home is because I can reduce my overhead costs by not having to pay rent at a retail location and hire lots of employees. I also specialize in wedding and event flowers, by having my business so specialized it allows me to keep things smaller and really keep my focus in one or two areas.
This definitely is not a hobby for me, it brings in significant income. I really have a passion for what I do, and every year look forward to the ways in which my business will continue to grow. Eventually I see myself opening a retail location and branching into other aspects of the floral realm, but for now I am content with focusing on weddings and events.

I appreciate the candor and honesty. We are a large group here on FlowerChat......and a lot of us are like one big crazy, wacky family........but we are all hard-working professionals who love this crazy industry we call the flower business. There are those who would love to see this industry torn asunder and us florists all gone bye bye........but if I have anything to say about it......that ain't gonna happen.
I think it would be a very sad day if the floral idustry were shut down. We are an important part of society and I couldn't imagine weddings, funerals, birthdays, any day without flowers. I am with you! I would completely fight to see this industry saved.
