What a week and what emotional posts about celebrity deaths!

As I was writing a comment in one thread about nobody caring when something happens to a "normal Joe," my dear friend's home was being struck by lightening and it burned to the ground last night. They and their 2 little girls were out, and managed to get home to get the dog out, but they lost 2 cats, 2 sweet lovebirds and EVERYTHING they ever owned!!!

They are pretty well-off, but STILL!!! Can you fathom losing memories, files/paperwork, family heirlooms...EVERYTHING???? How will this affect the two little girls?

I will not be obsessing about MJ or Farrah this weekend, that's for sure. My heart is breaking for people nearer-and dearer.

My family survived a similar ordeal. We lost Thumper, heirlooms, pictures, files... so much. Thank heaven there was no loss of human life.

We had the generous help from friends and community.

Your friends will survive. They will mourn the loss of beloved pets and stuff. They will need support from those near and dear to them

I empathize with what they are going through now and what they will go through. But I'm glad they have good people to call on.

Dior,
Prayers for peace sent for your friends.

I so agree with you about the celebrity thing. It is just insane, we enable some to misbehave just because they are entertainers. Sure they are gifted people , but then so are florists!!! Our town was a nut house of the Anna Nicole thing a few years ago for example. It makes me wonder how some people would handle a real tragedy in their own family.

Your friends will mourn their losses, and hopefully rebuild, learn something about their own stregnths and move past this. Sometimes it takes years. On this I speak from experiance, we lost everything, home, stuff nearly 17 years ago. It is still a day etched in my brain. BUT, it was a turning point of sorts, that made me who I am today.
Alot of pain, resentment, why me, but really if everyone is safe...it's all just stuff!
