Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say I made it to Illinois! The family and I made it safe & sound. Kids got sick in New Mexico...guess the climate changes caught up to them. They are feeling better now...they will start school on the 20th...the boys are so excited to go to school. I can't wait to see them. they will go two days a week which is fine with me...I'll get a break from all 3, 2x a week!! :)

as for the house, well I have to admit, when I walked in, saw all 3 levels (basement, first floor, 2nd floor)-the kids ran around happy to be back in the yellow house...me, well I sat on the steps and cried. My house was definitely neglected and it shows. We had major plumbing issues-toilet was stopped up with toys, tub stopped up with goop and the kitchen sink piping was broken-therefore water spilled out onto the kitchen floor and warped the new wood floors I had put in before I left.

As for the basement, it is not usable (is that a word?) anymore, the basement bath was flooded due to the sump pump being off because of their faliure to pay the electric bill, causing the electric to be shut off. the carpeting in the basement was affected as well and will have to be replaced. Tenants left all sorts fo things throughout the house and the garage was full of junk. The hubby and I got right to work that very afternoon and removed all the junk from the garage, lucky for us it was trash night. There was lots of cleaning to be done and it was but we still have more to do as far as the kids' rooms.

I can't wait for spring, will be painting the kids rooms and making it look more like a home!!! So I got the cry out and I am looking forward...I am grateful it wasn't worse. Thanks to those who "checked in", it's truly appreciated it.

Glad you arrived safe and sound Aileen. I'm sure it's all overwhelming at the moment. Take a sec and feel the joy of the boys. :)

Yes, Doug...HOME SWEET HOME!!! We're enjoying the snow fall right now, cozying up on the living room floor with our aerobeds for furniture!! HA! we won't get our furniture until March...we'll survive. I'm just really excited for the kids that they are happy to be back home and eager for Nina to enjoy her old pals again...and to see how the boys will enjoy school. I believe they will love it...a whole new world for them.

well, I'm glad to see you made it safe!

Sorry for all your troubles, I'm sure it will all work out.

Thanks fr the reminder...I have updated my city and state- Elgin, IL. I'm about 45 mins. west of Chicago.

You know Aileen...you and hubby are pretty tough cookies.....most people would have run away screaming!!
Like Doug said, you are "HOME".......
A house can be "fixed", but "HOME" is home!!

Thanks Mikey!! Well this was the easy part...the tough part is the coming year and a half we will be a part. Believe me he was ready to throw in the towel and let the house get foreclosed on...I stood my ground and said "NO...we worked hard for this and we're not letting people who are pieces of poopie take it away." It wasn't our doing that was the cause of putting our home in peril it was outsiders who chose not to live up to their responsiblilities therefore forcing our hand to this decision. So thanks so much Mikey...yes, a Home is a Home!

How good that you all arrived safely! I hate the mess for you, but your signature (above) can read, "Loving the...lots of fixing up to do." It'll keep you so busy that maybe the year and a half will seem to fly by.

Just take a deep breath and one day at a time. Sounds like you have much more space for the children to run and play in. The best to ya and your family,
this will be the best year you've ever seen .

Glad you are back home Aileen, sorry about the mess you faced but you know, home is where the heart is:loopy

Thanks everyone!!! Sharon, what a compliment...THANKS!
