Been pretty bummed since the hubby left. Felt it really bad (loneliness) this morning after I dropped off all 3 of my kiddos to school.

SO...I have decided I am going to get myself out of this bum attitude starting with this song! :headbang:

Join me...post your "I REFUSE to stay bummed" song!

Don't be bummed it won't be long before He is back again and the kids will be home after school...love the song...enjoy the weather...enjoy the day..."Don't Worry Be Happy" we will all keep you company

I don't think this band is working for me.......
Just good 'ol rock-n-roll works for me.
Eric Clapton... any day

It has helped....off to see if my books are worth any money!! Still working the Dave Ramsey plan!

Aileen,

I salute your hubby and his devotion to his country. I salute you for staying strong. A great antidote to loneliness is to join a cause or organization and help other people. There are so many needs these days. If you give of your time and efforts to those less fortunate, you will feel good and the recipients of your concern will feel good. Remember, you can only feel lonely if you let yourself feel that way. Count your blessings and be happy!

Thanks guys!!
Frank, I think you are very right. I do miss volunteering. When I was in San Diego, I had a food share program (on MCRD) that I did once a month. Since being back here in IL, so much of my focus has been on our situation-trying to rebuild after our tenant nightmare-that it has left little room for "doing good".

I have to say I do miss being around the military community, especially the Marine Corps. Here where I live now there is a minute presence and we're spread out. Ellen (Elmo) had a good point, I don't have very much time left before I start my new job so I suppose my focus is definitely where it needs to be right now.

As for loneliness, it would be there even if I was volunteering...you just can't deny that there is an emptiness when your husband is gone. At the end of the day, when all is quiet and you don't have his arms around you...is when it creeps up.

Love the Dave Ramsey!

It has helped....off to see if my books are worth any money!! Still working the Dave Ramsey plan!

I'm loving the Dave Ramsey... My husband and I did his Financial Peace University last year! We are well on our way to being debt free! :O)

Did you see the Town Hall for Hope last Thursday? It was great!

No I missed it!!! Is there somewhere I can watch it??

Hi Aileen, my husband was in the Marines during the end of the Vietnam War. I was a teenanger sitting at home without my husband. I had to move back in with my parents during his 2 year tour. He was drafted and they chose him for the Marines instead of the army, they told him we will take you today for the Marines. Just hang in there, we appreciate you and your family for your service. Mattie

Mattie, WOW that is amazing. Yes, I too was a teenager (18/19) sitting at home, my government issued house in Hawaii, while the hubby was deployed several times a year. Although not in a war zone like yours. But at 5 years of marriage, we had been together in physical presence about a year...collectively not all at once.

Thanks so much!
