Hi all, after my recent post about dogs and thinking about it for 11 months my hubby and i decided to get this 18 week old Bassett Hound last night. We did the 7 hour round trip to south wales which was a little tiring and got in at 2am last night with him. We are keeping him named Ozzie as thats what his previous owners called him.

They decided to sell him as they had a westie puppy and an adult westy that were basically giving him a dogs life, jumping all over him etc. He just wasnt getting the attention he deserved. So, here he is with my daughter now as we speak cuddling on the chair.

Oh and he is a lazy so and so, had to drag him out for a walk. Must get that one sorted.

Ha... my dog's name is Ozzie too... Oz for short... St Bernard Black Lab mix....

Tell your Ozzie, my Ozzie sez hello!

Wow Boss, will do!! He sounds great, i had a yellow lab when i was small.

Thanks for the compliments Connie and Mark!

Awww, he is so cute. Gosh I have always wanted a lazy dog. We always got the hyper ones with skin allergies (yes we had a dog that was allergic to flea's and had psoriasis) I always just wanted a dog that would mind and just lay around the house. Never happened.
When my oldest left for college, I bought a rabbit hoping to litter train it. Yeah, right. Rabbit died. That was the last of the animals for our house.
So I will just admire your puppy!!!

Nice looking pooch but I must say that he has that "look"..he already knows he is King....good luck on getting him to run and walk lively...I can picture you dragging him along trying to coach him to participating...all the while he is laughing at your attempts....after all He knows he is King...lol
Congrats on expanding your family Palms...

My goodness he's a ringer for my departed basset Ruben Begonia! He was our first dog (baby), my husband and I got him before we had our daughter. I'll have to scan a picture of him so you can see the resemblence. I love him so much I always tell the story of when I had a very very severe migraine headache and just couldnt' get out of bed he came into my room and laid next to me and wouldn't leave me. Take good care of Ozzie and he'll care for you. :)

Marie i know what you mean about the baby thing, Jay and I got our Molly before our kids and boy oh boy she was our baby. Wouldnt change it for the world.

Sher, yes he laughed all the way around the block today and yesterday. We have decided no scraps and only dog food so that he does not become a fatty like our other dog. Its so easy to love with food isnt it.

Chez, thanks for the compliment, glad you all approve of how cute he is.

All of your comments are lovely, thanks so much:bouncy:

Oh! He is too cute! Did you realy get him because his face coloring is the same as your daughters hair color??? ;)

Tell him Violet and Lily say Woof!!

I just told him that, he lifted his head and then when back to his chew, lazy lazy lazy lol.

Ha ha i had not even noticed that, she isnt well at the moment so i think just cuddling him is all she can do really.

He looks so sweet and he looks very contented in your daughters arms, Bless em!!! I have a Sheltie, he is 15 years old, hes deaf and almost blind now, but then he is 105 in dog years!

He is a cutie pie!
Bassetts can be deceiving they are not all lazy , sleepy lumps. My Brother and sister-in-law adopted two bassets from a rescue group this summer. They are live wires, the most active I have seen, and these are their 4th and 5th Bassets. They even give my two corgis a run for the money.
Enjoy, oh, I love puppies!

I love ears, therefore I love Ozzie. :)

/howls like a hound

Ozzie is adorable, and your daughter is gorgeous!! I hope Ozzie isn't lazy cuz he's depressed? I'm sure he'll feel quite loved and at home soon.

Thanks Daz and Beth, No he defo is not depressed judging on the amount of tail wagging he does. I call him lazy as he will have a burst around the house with the kids and then needs a sleep for a week lol and if you talk to him while he is resting he just rolls his eyes, so funny!!
