Hi all. we're looking to incorporate some new types of greens/foliages into our designs....interesting colors and textures with a reasonable vase life. It would be good if they could be used in "everyday" designs, but truly unique items are ok too.

Some of the things we're using now include Italian ruscus, bear grass and seeded eucalyptus.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I get a box of mixed greens twice a week out of Florida....

Coffee is cool....varigated Aspidistra, Varigated Pitt, Sword Fern and more odds and ends....

Sutton Greenery in Miami has great mixed boxes withall of that and more and the price is great. If you can't find them let me know and I'll dig up the info.
We have bought from them many times and were always pleased.

Sutton is good...also try Blue Ribbon Blossoms..305-591-5678 ask for Roberta or go to ext 252...they have great prices on seeded euc, italian ruscus, salal, curley willow, snake grass etc......but if you ever need garland...sutton is definately the place to go. Ask for Andy...I think the real name of the co is Sutton Ferneries...305-477-4776

Boss,
We must get the same box. From flowertree? I love, love, love it. I have actually replaced my standing order of leather leaft with it and I would never look back :)

I'm not usually one for dyed product but Mellano - out of So Cal - has dyed burgundy seeded euc that's gorgeous in rose arrangements.

Other favorites: ti leaves (both red and green), dracaena warneckii, monstera (very good prices now coming out of Thailand), flax, hala, oregonia (variegated shrub), galax, liriope (lily grass) and variegated italian pitt.

Each has its own unique characteristics. Just depends on the kind of effect you want to achieve.

Nice taste Cathy :) I will also second the red seeded Euc. There is a pumpkin colored seeded Euc we used at TDay and it looked sweeeeeet.

To add to Cathy's list:

Buplurem
Galax Leaves
Lily Grass
Salal (Lemon Leaf)
Rosemarry
Flowering Branches (Forcythia and Apricot)
Pepper Berry
China Berry
Brazilia Berry
Safari Sunset or Wilson's Wonder
Dusty Miller
Magnolia

(this is what we have in the shop today - minus the China and Brazillia Berries)

Quality Growers in Florida is another good supplier of greens. I'll try to post the phone number later today when I'm at the shop. Always ask for Willo.

We've been putting Nandina in lots of our arrangements. Ours is a burgundy color now and it is gorgious in roses, especially red roses. We get Nandina from my yard. Another yardillia favorite is Illiagnus (sp?) because of its dark green with silver underside leaves on long stems.

I was wondering, it seems like we all have different wholesalers/growers that we get product from....do you all think it would be worthwhile to start a new thread with the name and contact info for your "preferred" growers/wholesalers/suppliers -- maybe with the product you get from them? (like we have for favorite websites and unfavored OGs). maybe even 2 threads - one for flowers/foliages/berries and one for hardgoods?

I've forgotten Willo's extention, but the receptionist will connect you.

I like the idea Kathy, but a lot of people are set in their ways and won't change. BUT, it wouldn't hurt. :)

To me, the cheese is always being moved and so shall I.

P.S. - I forgot about Nandina, good call Connie :)

Sounds like a great idea Kathy. We could all share the good and bad suppliers and supplies.

We sometimes use Fresher Greens out of florida. I don't have the number with me but they also have a website: www.freshergreens.com The quality has been great and they have a good variety of different greens.
