Hope you can help,im on our local junior schools(age 5-11)P.T.A(parent teacher association)
We are holding our summer fayre(outdoor/indoor event) we will be holding all manner of events/activities(tombola,raffle,how many smarties in a jar, bouncy castle, donkey rides, hook a duck, hoopla all that kind of stuff )all to raise funds for our school..
So my big ask is...do you your side of pond hold similar events and is there anything you do or have done, that we might use at our fund raising event.Even crazy stuff considered, our P.T.A ARE STUMPED FOR NEW EXCITING WAYS TO GET A GOOD ATTENDANCE AND MAKE MONEY FOR SCHOOL..Thankyou.

Our school raises funds by selling junk from a brochure (I'm really sick of it!)

Some fun ideas I have seen:

Have a photographer (or more than 1) come in and do portraits (family, kids, whatever) and donate a portion to the school. I wish our school would do this -- maybe I could send out Christmas cards to the people who always bug me about seeing photos of my family!

Get someone to donate a prize of somekind - weekend away, or maybe flowers? - that will be given to a teacher. Then families and others buy tickets to "nominate" their favorite teacher to win the prize. The winning teacher is drawn from the purchased tickets. This should ideally be kept secret from the teachers until the contest is over so it will be a surprise.

Hope you come up with fun ideas!

On the nominate a teacher idea is it not necessarily the teacher who receives the most votes who wins, more just luck of the draw, obviously im thinking the more tickets one popular teacher has in the draw the more chance they have of being pulled out as winner..

Love It, Love It, Love It....

thankyou for that, thats on the table...anyone else got any ideas please..

Do you all have "Dunk Tanks" over there??

I have seen a dunk tank take in a few thousand dollars in a night as a school carnival when the right person is the one getting dunked...like the head master, the city mayor...Chief of Police....

Queen of Charities!!

Chinese auction get local business to donate items then sell raffel tickets for them give away like on the hour.
Silent auction where you get larger items donated then have pads of paper you start with the minium bid and others add to it, I find purses, are one the bigger ones with mothers,
Candy sales and bake sale or even a cake walk .
Instant winner, Gift certicates in boxes wrapped we do them say for a Micky dee's 10 worth inside we sell them for 20.00
Plant wheel where you take a wheel and have people do a dart thing and they win a plant.
Pick up Ducks,,,

also for cheap items go to orential trading for trinkets to give away,
I have lots of theres, here is the big one that we did last year that was the best yet, some folks thought I was crazy but it was fabu,Raised alot of money on this one,

Honey Do Auction,
we Got the local mayor, councilman and the principal and auctioned them off, they had to do a Honey Do , the folks went crazy on this bidding for them to come to there house or even a dinner for two the winner chose there chore, it was a great hit we are doing it again this year, lots of calls from lots of volunteers,,to do this,,,If you need more ideas let me know,,,

Can you get your principal to kiss a pig? As in, "if we sell # of tickets Principal Sue will kiss a pig at 8:00 at the carnival" The kids love it and you could make daily announcements at school as to how close you are to the goal, or have the pig make an appearance at the school early that week. Have the principal make a big deal about taking the "bet" in the school cafeteria, or gymnasium. Pig posters "Pucker up Principal Peters", and "see you at the carnival for an Oinkin' good time!" If your pig is willing, you can sell pictures with Porky.

our Jr High principal and vice principal.. offered to shave their heads .. It wasn't so much to raise money but to inspire the kids to get the grades up... worked like a charm.. they also made a big to do about it by announcing it at an assembly and such..

Check out my post on "Making this Valentine's Day easier", by having groups do your deliveries for you. They can make a ton of money and you save a ton of work and stress! Do it for Mother's Day too.

For a great fund-raising idea........Our local cancer society does this every other year or so.

It is called "Jail and Bail"

You start off by having your local officials......governers, teachers, principals, community leaders, busines owners, etc. "arrested" and taken to a central facility....say the convention/ carnival rides/ faire area or to some central area wherever the fund-raising is taking place, and they are "incarcerated" and they have to make phone calls, beg passerby, converse and try to cajole people to "Bail" them out by making donations. Once a preset figure has been reached for that "inmate", then he or she is considered "Bailed out of Jail" and released back into society.

Now, there will be the occasional party pooper who just will not want to play along, so you will have to pass over them.

To make it even more fun, you can have friends, neighbors, co-workers, pick the people to be arrested.

I guess I'm the party pooper then...

I got roped into that once - never never again.

I still get the calls "You've been arrested" to which I say - no I haven't. You couldn't pay me to ever do that again.

It was uncomfortable, embarassing, stupid, as well as uncomfortable, embarassing and stupid.

sorry...

opinions vary
