Hello Everyone! My name is Brandi. I own Posh Wedding & Special Event Florals. I am a special event only florist. My business is based out of my home with plenty of workspace and cooler provided, just found it much more economical for me to work out of my home.

I have been a florist since 2000. I graduated from the floriculture program in 2001. I have had the opportunity to work in very small shops and also to manage a very large chain type of floral shop as well. I have found special events are what's for me!

This year has really been the best year so far for me. I have made a much bigger point to market myself and reach out to larger communities as I am in a very small town. I have also built my own website and have recently seen that start to grow. So far I am using it more as a referance tool for my brides, but am hoping for people to find me that way as well.

I am looking to network and also to get and share ideas with other florists. Thanks so much!

I am a licensed business. I am open by appointment only. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Welcome
:)

Welcome,
I am new to the community also. My shop does wedding/event and everyday business. I was wondering how you practiced your pricing when your shop did both also. Was your wedding/event work marked up higher...did you add labor...or was everything priced out the same. I am only asking because I was wondering if my pricing might benefit from a change.

me too

Hey Posh,

I am an event/wedding florist as well, although I moved out of the house and into my studio 2 years ago - I still keep a by appt only policy - my studio is not zoned for retail, and I don't want to anoy the neighbors.

I am about ( I have been saying that for months) to launch a new website that I hope will provide me enough daily business to keep a staffmember entertainded during the week, because I need more help - I can't be alone with the phone and doing consultations.

Good luck to you.

Hey Fat Cat Flowers,

Sounds like you're doing well in the studio. I am hoping to eventually move that direction. I need to do some work getting my website exposed...drive traffic...ect. Do you find you have brides more confident with a studio location rather than your home? It doesn't seem to be an issue with my brides, but I often get questions about what kind of staff I have or where I do my work. (My work space is separate from where I consult.)

I think it was a huge leap in credibility to be in a professional space - although it is still tiny! I am all about low overhead and high profitability. so I still get the staff question - I do two or three weddings a weekend (about 10k is the right number for me) and people look at me and my little space and say - you do all this here - with who?

I have one full time designer, a driver who works Wed - thru Sat and Sunday if needed, and a Saturday girl who helps with wedding set up. and I do 150 weddings a year.

One thing I find - and I have not yet been to your website - is that adds alot of credibility as well - there are alot of desintation weddings in New Orleans, so brides find me online, and get hooked on my site.

Fat Cat,

I just checked out your website. It's fabulous! Your work is beautiful. I bulit my site myself in a 2 day frenzy to get something on the web. It needs work! That is for sure. I haven't put my own portfolio on and definately need to do that very soon! I am using photos from John Henry software. I do present my own portfolio to my brides at consult, but need to get them on the web.

Sounds like you have a great business. How many years have you been at this?
