Lately we have been getting phone wire orders, that we later get complaints from the sender because of incorrect or missing information on the order. After investigation I found the sender did not pass or impart the information correctly or clearly. Our problem is, we get the blame for it is our word against the senders as to where the error was made. The orders are coming from new wire service members that do not use wire or electronic transmissions and I don't think they understand the system.

1. I am wondering if other wire service fillers are having the same similar problems? If so how do you handle the taking of the order?

2. As a FTD member could I take the approach not to accept any incoming orders unless it is via wire, FAX or electronic transmission, where I would have a paper trail generated by the sender?

I know we make mistakes but the last four (4) have all come as a result of phone wire orders and I am getting tired of these problem orders. They are costing me money in the corrections and I don't feel it is my place to fix someone elses mistake. :ar15 new phone members!

I hesitate taking phone orders for the same reason...If you generate enough biz without the phone orders, I'd tell the shop to send an e-order, a direct order that you can fill at 100%, or don't bother sending to you anymore. Incoming wire orders aren't profitable enough to justify having to go back to make corrections to your paperwork...or worse..to your delivered arrangments. Back in the day, it was far more aceptable to "mess up". Now a days, consumers want to slit your wrists for any little mistake. The e-orders help keep that hostility away from your shop when you're able to trace the info back to the sender. IMHO

Since I am very oriented in this town with apt, etc. I will tell the florist that phone in, on the spot it is the wrong address or missing information.
THe reply is "They gave us only that". IN another word, can you find it for us, since I am too busy to callmy customer back.
Same thing with internet orders from gatherers. Seems they always get or have wrong info,
I am glad I am in a town that is small enough to know everything.
I just hate the ones that will still argue with you.

Small community here also and the entities like 800Flowers and FTD.COM are notorious for wrong...wrong phone, wrong address, screwed up card messages etc. We sign the cards EXACTLY as shown on the order and we do not take phone orders if they have Merc or Dove. We do ask...We accept NO orders from 800Flowers unless it comes by merc/dove and then when we reject it, we have it on paper.

Ditto

It saves a lot of grief if you get a paper version - it's saved our biscuit a few times.
