Aloha,

I'm Debby from Honolulu, HI and have been in the floral industry for 26 years. I currently work for a large hardgoods wholesaler but also own my own floral company, Ambiance Today.
I signed up for FlowerChat a while ago but have never gotten around to posting the intro message. I saw something about a web design "chat" which you will be featuring so I thought I'd better hurry up and do this so that I could find out more info. I'm interested in developing a web page.
I'm just learning Mircosoft Word so pardon if I'm not that computer literate. E.g. what is a "tag" and why would I need 5 of them? :)

Thanks,
Deb

Welcome. I did a brief search for Ambiance Today, HI, and found no business listing. Please tell us a little more about your flower business. Are you a commercial retail florist, with a storefront, or a studio shop from home?

thanks
:)

edit: found one listing, with an AIFD induction in 2006?? That's a pretty important tidbit you should include in an intro! :)

Hi, and welcome back. It would be helpful if you answered the questions on the Member Intro page... and be somewhat expansive! :)

Hey Deb!

The website with you, Hitomi & team at Design 358 is very impressive. Sounds like you want to build one for your own business.

what is a "tag" and why would I need 5 of them
Tags are terms which describe the topic(s) of a post. From Wikipedia:
A tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information (such as an internet bookmark, digital image, or computer file). This kind of metadata helps describes an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching. Tags are chosen informally and personally by the item's creator or by its viewer, depending on the system.
Intro messages aren't typically tagged, but members here use tags when posting about other topics so they can easily be found when using our internal search.

Welcome to FC.. :)

Sorry, never did find the page with the questions but I read TC's post and so here are the answers:

No website.
Been in the floral business 26 yrs.

Formal floral education is limited to workshops given by various designers, some of whom have become mentors - René van Rems, Hitomi Gilliam, Phil Rulloda (Hi Cathy!), Gregor Lersch, Leonard Tharp, Life3, etc.

Non-floral floral education is BFA from Syracuse University, NY and a P.D. in secondary art education from University of Hawaii.

I cannot recall who referred me to FlowerChat...I think I was surfing the web.

I hope to gain friendship and knowledge from this site.

I hope to contribute ideas and my knowledge to its community.

My personal company is partially from home. I currently work for a large floral product wholesale company.

Thanks!

Thank you, Carol. Unfortunately, can't afford to go to Symposium this year. Financially drained by the last two in a row plus one inbetween just to test. Hope to meet you one day, though. Have fun!
