Hi everyone...hoping this is how it is done, it's a bit confusing.
I have been in the floral industry for 27 years. Just recently in Oct 2007 opened my own shop (now that the kids are off to college). The timing was just right, as the florist I used to work for closed. I wasted no time and opened up 5 weeks after.
Thought this would be a good forum for finding friends in the industry and information.
So, hello, nice to meet you all!

Welcome to this part of the process.

Welcome! The photos on your website are lovely! From your site, it appears you are an even only florist. Do you work from a home based studio, or retail location?

:)

Hello there!

I went to you website, but it's listed asTrumansburgFlorist.com
Are you working under two names?
Also, your website did not operate properly for me to view your gallery.
You might want to check out your sites functions. People like easy to access sites with lots of pictures and pricing, both of which I couldn't find. The one vase photo I saw was lovely.
Are you affiliated with a wire service?
It sorta suggested that you are primarily a wedding vender, from photos at bottom, and the Winery Trail Weddings reference.

Please don't be offended by the questions you may get, it's just part of the process.

Thanks.

Hi

Hi there,
Im sorry you had trouble viewing the gallery...hmm wonder whats up with that.
One reason I only post pictures is so that people can see the quality of my work. I very much dislike the catalogue/with pricing style of website. I do have one benefit. I am the only florist in my particular town and though Im new as far as a retail business, I have many established clients who call me.
Yes, I have two" domain" names. The reason for that is obviously if someone is looking for a florist in Trumansburg and just types that in it kicks it up. Also use the business name web address on advertising and such. It seems to be working very well.
NO, I hate wire services....they are a big rip off. I belong to locateaflowershop.com and people say they find me there all the time.
I offer the service to call out an order for my customers and charge a $10.00 fee for doing so. But at least the customer gets what they pay for and it doesn't get split 3 ways before it gets to where it is going.
I always offer to give them the number for the out of town florist for free if they want to do it themselves.
Teleflora has been chasing me since the day I opened. Wire services..their days are numbered. The next generation coming up can google anything...If you are on the internet, people will find you period.
I am a retail florist with everyday delivery, but do cater to the wedding crowd, as it is a big area for weddings. I do alot of email weddings anymore, don't see the bride till the day she is married. They seem to come from all over.
Thanks for the welcome!

Hi there Tracypieface!
I have a small retail location. The rent is perfect, the location is awesome and yes I am the only florist. I had to open very quickly and things just worked out!
It was meant to be. Things are going very well for my first year (which I will celebrate in October).
Thanks for the welcome!
