It is ironic that we received a message today from Teleflora HQ, about high fuel cost .
Here is the message:
With current high fuel expenses, now is a good time to review your inimums and delivery charges for the upcoming Nov/Dec/Jan Dove/Directory. (deadline is September 20). As a reminder, teleflora requires that if you charge a delivery fee, it must be listed separately from your minimums. You may also list a different delivery charge for your additional city listings. Please review your minimums and delivery charge to ensure a profitable upcoming holiday. Contact customer service at 800-668-5770 with any changes.

I guess when we receive those teleflora.com orders that does not include delivery charge, they are not following their own rules. I had some of those and always ask for more $$$$$ to cover the GST we have to pay and delivery for only to be rejected and used by the other flower shop.
I am not going to waste my time this holiday. I will instruct my staff to forward all of those orders back to them. If they keep sending them I will reject them at the end of the day.

Luc,
Go one better; give them the boot, let the other shop, if there's one still there, DIE under the weight of all those WS orders and 2006 will bring a new dawn of 100% orders and MORE PROFIT!!!!!! It really does feel good!!!

CAn we say STOOPID?

I agree!!! And please tell me that the college educated folks at Teleflora Hqtrs. Are no stupid enough to think that any florist delivers today for free!! Please!!!! Every company that delivers today has some type of charge. Weather they charge separately or take it out of the product, NOTHING IS TOTALLY FREE!! Please tell me headquarters employees & the powers that ARE -- aren’t as stupid as their broadcasts.

Unless I'm blind, I've found no such language in the rules and regulations. Called customer service about that message yesterday. IMO, the entire codification area is a mess.

We have always listed our minimums with the delivery charge included but I was told that policy changed three years ago. News to me.

Seems now they want each shop to list a delivery charge (indicated with a little truck symbol.) I told the rep that our city was 40 miles wide and that delivery charges were based on distance so local zips were significantly lower that distant ones - but that the directory only displayed one price. Also mentioned that the price may be different by the time the book was published since gas costs have fluctuated more than 50% in the last few months.

The first rep told me that if no delivery charge was indicated in the codification, then TF assumed it's $5. Her supervisor then said the next Dove update would have an enhancement to search or sort by delivery charge. Like that'll be accurate.

In the end, I was told that just showing a truck symbol was fine since that would indicate we did have a delivery charge.

I told the rep that they better start putting little trucks on every shop in Southen California since I hadn't seen a local shop with free delivery for more than 20 years.

Like I said....a mess.

Smoke and Mirrors....

Take out your DC in REAL DOLLARS..then if you can;t fill it...send it away...

I'd think on the sending to the competition thing...thats not in the book of ethics for Real Florists...send it back to HQ...but another member of the *Community*...

My favorite about the general broadcast

was that I got it yesterday..called ..was put on terminal hold.tried three more times.finally gave up.reached them this morning and was told I had missed the deadline. She ( and talk about ATTITUDE) took my info and said they would try to get it in the next book after feb...but could not guarantee it.Still wodering why I even bothered.....they are getting more dense and stupid by the days.

I purchased my shop from my former employer in december 2002, and at that time both, TF and FTD, came out and went over all of my paper work to insure my codification met with my approval, I mean I had to fill in a form, and it had no indication of "NO SEPARATE CHARGE= NO DELIVERY FOR YOU. At that point they asked me for " Minimum order INCLUDING delivery"!!! No mention of a change in policy and that hasn't been 3 years ago yet. Some one needs to get the story together. I have been in this business nearly 17 years and NEVER have I heard nor read any different. Maybe they need to enlighten the reps to the new policy!

We've had separate del charge listed since ... I think before 2000, probably 98 or 99. Not like most florists actually look at coded prices or minimums anyway ...
