Amy with Wildflowers, Chicago suggested we start a thread for reinventing the dish garden/planter. I agree that this is another stumper. I do the usual adding curly willow, fresh cut flowers, blah, blah, blah. Shannon inspired us on the bud vase. Let's see what kind of inspiration we can find for this.

Thanks for the suggestion Amy!

One way is with different containers; straw purses, urns, even glass vases w/moss, all kinds of unique ceramic or metal containers, even shoes.
That's all I can come up with for now. I look forward to reading the answers

We use high end containers such as ceramic urns and decorative pots that we would normally use for botanical arrangements. We've recently started using 5" square glass cube vases that look pretty cool with river rock on the top and bottom of the dirt plus the extra doodads like sticks and such. We had a customer that requested we make a plant garden in the bottom of a smaller decorative bird cage, turned out pretty cute. It has a bottom area that we mossed in and then put a plastic liner into it and were able to slip plants in through the top that opened up, added the bird. Right now we're carrying an assortment of ivy topiary that are wonderful and don't require much, may have to add one to a plant garden though to make myself happy.
