I've been searching all these years.

What it was I was looking for, I don't remember any more.

I never found what I had sought; It never mattered what I bought.

It started with the weed I smoked; It never mattered how much I toked.

I liked the way it made me feel; I thought it was the real deal.

Then I went to wine and beer; It seemed so fun and was always there.

Next came pills; they went both ways; I was either up or down for days.

When I found out about coke; I snorted and snorted like a dope.

When the high didn't last no more. I opened up another door.

My friends they showed me how to cook; Then I had a different look.

My eyes bugged and my mind was gone; I was up from dusk till dawn.

I have stuck many needles in me; that is not a sight to see.

If this sounds like you; And you know what I have been through.

There's Jail, There's Death, there's Skid Row too. But there is also another way through.

I finally found what I was looking for; My Higher Power has opened a new door.

I pray every day not to pick up. He has given me a full cup.

My life is serene and so peaceful today; Thank you dear Lord for showing the way.

Chuck C. is a homeless friend of mine, that's had a hard life, yet always seems to have the right mindset, and the wise word at just the right time. Thanks Chuck.

Very powerful. Thank you.

Is Chuck C. the author of the poem?

Yes Connie, he is... I have a few more of his prose I'll share over the next few days.

It amazes me daily working with these men, how they come to find direction in life at different stages along the path. I've known Chuck for about a year... for the first 5-6 months he would not even talk to me...

WRONG man NOT to talk to.......Chuck is very lucky, even in his "depths"....
When man loses direction and purpose, faith will NOT help......
