Too bad people aren't required to use their real first names too...I find it frustrating to follow writers of the posts and replies when the username and given name don't match, unless you already know who the poster is talking about. I was thinking of starting a thread for newbies with the username - real (first) name.

I couldn't agree more. It is so frustrating to remember which real names goes with which other name.

I love the idea of disclosure of the business name/location.

This might also be a good time to address the areas of the forum that are viewable by the non-FC public, such as profiles, member list etc etc.

What if you are an unemployed floral designer? and have no website? and have no business name? What then?

If you're employed (don't we call that "freelance?" <jokes>), just put your name as the business name, and "none" for website.

Update #1

We've just completed the first step in the upgrade process. We installed a maintenance update to deal with some bugs, and upgraded the blog platform to version 2.

Some of the new features in Blog 2 include:

• Blog Customization - users may customize their blogs in the same manner that they can customize their user profiles
• Group Blogs - users may allow other users to post to their blog.
• Sidebar Blocks - users may create custom blocks to display in their sidebar. These blocks can be rearranged by drag and drop.
• Custom Pages - users may create custom pages to be displayed in their blog.
• Tags - tag support has been included.
• Featured Entry Manager - multiple entries can be featured on the blog home page now.
• Private Entries - users may set specific entries to be private while leaving their blog open.
• Admin Categories - admins may define categories now.

We have finished the biggest portion of this upgrade cycle. Here are some of the new features we've added:

New Features in 3.8

There are many new features and improvements to existing functionality in vBulletin 3.8.0 over vBulletin 3.7.x. Here is a brief list of just a few of the highlights.

• Private message sorting and filtering
• Private message history
• Quick edit for newer types of content (visitor messages and picture comments)
• Social group icons
• Social group transfers
• Private message quick reply
• Private message throttling (limit messages sent over a time period)

• Profile privacy (limit blocks to a subset of users)
• Lightbox navigation
• Thread prefix permissions
• Dismissible notices

All in all, it's a better, more streamlined FlowerChat experience.
