JC Penny's

I like it too Jenifer. I know they are not the only major retailer making huge changes. I have noticed all of the Sears adds in my area are appliance focused. Just today they put all of their clothing (and that was not much, don't think they have restocked this year) on closeout for $2.99. They will no longer be offering clothing at our location. They will be auto, lawn & garden, appliances, tools, and jewelry. I think we are going to see more and more restructuring for survival this year.

Okay, I just saw the commercial. I didn't even know they existed anymore. I did like it, and with Ellen you know it's going to get noticed. I actually DID go to whole dollar amounts on my website a couple years ago and had started implementing that in the store also. I think it's the "new" way to price. I'm actually considering putting things with the sales tax included for a full, round price so what you see is what you pay.

I like this idea as well. It's pretty common to take an order for $xxx all included and we back out tax for the customer and fill to value. It would sense to advertise it that way to begin with. People love simple.

I heard Huckabee once give a seminar and another reason to do round numbers is it is shorter to say on the phone when people might have trouble hearing you on a cell phone. Twen-ty Nine nin-ty nine= 6 syllables verses thir-ty= 2. Yes I think people love simplicity, we all hear and translate anyways!

Penny's is aiming at more than wiping out.99 but shooting at FAIR AND SQUARE. No more gimmicks, or fine print and return policies. A couple weeks ago I was in the store and they had boots on clearance. A large display had a sign for $15.00, I never once believed the boots I picked would be included in that price. But they were...yay for me!

We like simple yes, but feeling like you got a great deal without needing a coupon that's only good on the sixth sunday, before noon, and after you spend $50.00, and doesn't apply to any discount items is PRICELESS!

Sounds like a great call to action ~ rebranding could definitely use that!

I am loving the new Penny commercials. It makes me want to take another look at what Penny's have to offer.

I found this article tonight thought I would share it here. It pretty much says Penny's does not know if the pricing strategy is working, or will ever work.

Also it talks about the new commercials, it is funny that when I saw it this morning I thought... this must be Target... nope but one of the higher ups is x-target so he must have brought the inspiration with him lol.
