Jonathan is the new head of Flowers Direct, one of the relay operators in the UK. It was started by Ian Rawlins as a spin off from the days when he was a florist member of Flowergram which he eventually acquired last year but which has now been merged into Flowers Direct.

Flowers Direct were acquired by Zeus (a VC) last year for an undisclosed sum but rumoured to be circa 1.9 million.

Flowers Direct have a number of member florists as well as an active boxed delivery distribution department at their Lancashire HQ.

However while I am impressed that Jonathan has joined here and on floristnews I admit my view of Flowers Direct is not that brilliant. I have raised some of these issues with the company and although I haven't met Jonathan I have communicated and am hopeful that he will find time to meet with me before Christmas.

I personally dont hold this company in much esteem but not sure what the ettiquette is on relay companies on here even though there are other relays on here. I will leave the voting to the more experienced. No personal offence intended.

Thanks to everyone for saying hello, sorry didn' reply straight away but have been on a tour of our florists over the last week or so and not logged on. My sole purpose in joining is to find out more about the industry and also what members are looking for in a Relay service, what are the positive sides of FD and the negatives and also what we should be striving to improve.
