3. Yes, I took some intensive courses, attended some seminars and worked at a florist shop.

4. Fell upon the FlowerChat website while looking for info on contracts.

5. I would like to meet other florists and possibly share ideas and dilemmas.

6. Being a creative person, I always like to think out of the box. I love working with Themes. Creating designs to compliment a clients theme, is always a fun challenge, especially working within budgets. I believe my contribution to the community would be sharing my ideas.

7. I operate my business from a basement apartment attached to my residence.

Could you tell us a little more about the kind of work you do? Do you do daily orders, weddings, events? Are you a registered business that pays taxes, etc.? What made you move away from working for a florist and go into business for yourself? Is your location available for customers/clients or just a design space?

Please don't be offended by these questions-it's hard for everyone to get a good feel for the type of work you do and business you have without a website to view. We are a community of professional florists.

No offense taken...Yes, I am a registered business with my proper federal and provincial tax numbers. For 20 years, I worked for a well known company in their finance department. They downsized and I lost my job. I always planned events and decorated for friends and family on the side, and decided at tis point it was time to do something I enjoyed. I took some floral design courses and that is when I went to work for a florist...(looking for a career change). I initially wanted to open a store front and wanted to experience working in a store before doing so. I realized that this was not what I was looking for. I enjoy working with flowers and being creative, however I prefer to do this through Wedding and Event planning contracts. I do not have daily orders, I do occasionally get requests from current clients for arrangements for special occasions.

As for my work space, I can accommodate meeting my clients in this space, but it is truly my workshop. I do not have a sign outside where customers can just walk in. I like to work by appointments only.

Hope this response sheds better light as to who I am.
