Sorry, I do not have a web site - I am a very newly started business operating on word of mouth only currently. This is as a result of having just been made redundant through ill health. I wish to join the orum to read and further my interest / knowledge of the trade.

Please pardon my confusion, but what type of business do you have? What does "redundant through ill health" mean, if that's not too personal a question.
Connie, I believe the applicant is unable to work at his job due to illness.
That being said, please tell us about you and your business. Are you a registered business? Are you in the floral or related industry?
As this site is for professionals and is vetted we really need to know much more.

Jon, it sounds as if you work from home. Is this the case? Please let us know a little bit about your set up. Hope we dont sound intrusive, we just try to keep our board professional.

Jon, on a more personal note if I may.
I understand that your health has now prevented you from performing your regular work. My concern is that you might not have a clear understanding of just how hard florist work is. Also, owning your own shop is ten times harder. I would be concerned that this business might be the wrong thing for your health.
In this economy I wouldn't want you to invest what funds you have in a business that is itself having difficulty and would be almost impossible for a novice to get into, learn on your own and succeed. Frankly, Jon something your not aware of , is that there are well known shops closing everyday all over the US. So you might want to look at a job that is more stable, if that's possible where you are.
