Hmmm.. I guess I like it, thought it would be more....but I'll tkae it...

After running all the numbers June ended up 8% NET after all COGS figured in including labor, two major vehicle repairs, gas prices and all...

The vehicle repairs, and a couple things on the building skewed the NET down a bit, but thats OK can't do anything about that...

It "felt" like more...big increases in sympathy work, wire in's down by over 50%, wire outs flat within $50.00 over last year...increase is in in-store sales mostly...

I continue to like the trend I am seeing as we have been up every month since September, although I had hoped for a bigger jump...but as long as the upward trend continues I can;t complain...

Hope you all are seeing the same thing....

Down a bit...

Down in wire ins, wire outs (a ? here...not sure why???)
Cust. charges flat (up $75) Credit cards up (BIG wedding final payment last Sat in June) and cash down - BIG TIME...crazy.

Overall down 5%. Not a good one over here. The main cause is Wire Ins...we expected that with the "shift" in our biz plan for 2005. So, we expect to be down in the wire ins. but UP in all other areas...doesn't always work that way.........

...Just hope that July and August stay on the up side...can be a DEADLY couple of months...

Thats the truth.. July and August are great times for working on all that stuff you do not have time for durring the rest of the year...technology, web sites, marketing materials...everything getting ready for fall....

Sorry to hear of your 5% Herb....but knowing you it's a temporary setback....

Let me know if you want coipes on my NEW post cards and print stuff...very reasonable prices....and VERY COOL.....

...BOY - did you hit it on the head! BIG TIME marketing plans a-happening. For starters, printing out ALL my B-day/anniv. Reminder post cards through the rest of the year! Will have them grouped ready for mailing. Didn't do it last year & it became an issue...actully FORGOT to mail a stack c-mas week last year (they were for Jan. B-days/Anniv.) and later found them after V-day...yup - stamped and all.

And, YEA! Send me some examples of your NEW post cards and stuff. ALWAYS like sharing...will send you some of my stuff...cooking up some new thangs....

71% - WOW! Impressive - How'd you do it?

Up 6% here overall despite being down 40% in incoming wire orders. We attribute growth to our website and weddings/events. Both have been winners so far this year. :)

And PhillyPhlorist is 100% correct about NOW being the time to formulate strategies for fall/winter.

Not really sure, except that a shop down the "block" went out of business March first. We had steady increase over the two years that it was run by a different owner. We have increased our local business and 2.5 years ago dropped all WSs. I cut out any staff positions that were not needed. My staff knows that their jobs have to be flexible and their hours also flexible. They don't mind this flexibility. I have kept everything as lean as possible and I constantly check the numbers.
Since then, we have had a steady increase in net. We call out any orders outside our delivery area via CC at 100%. We do not have many and have given local florist's phone numbers to customers when requested. We ask for a relay fee in the case we call the order. The best way to cut costs are to understand that Mall Wart only had 5% of Sear's sales in the beginning. He could not compete until he understood he could not sell for less by using the same middlemen that everyone else did. He cut out middlemen. I am not saying that florists should be like Mall Wart but see what he did and see if you can learn something and apply it for yourself.
You have to understand business in general and understand what the numbers are saying to you. Maybe they are saying you should do something else or be something else. Maybe they say the the business is growing great.
