Ryan I have to ask you since you have been running this phpBB since 2002? Is there options in the software for audio? I guess there is because sometimes one gets a jingle when a new PM pops up.

I was just thinking about a idea for downloading music within a BB so it becomes on option to turn it on or off and have the registered users provide the songs. ??? stupid idea???
 
Correction - this is NOT a phpBB !! phpBB is a second rate vBulletin wannabe two bit knockoff that is always 2 steps behind. phpBB is freeware that waits for vBulletin to develop something, then copies it.

There are no built in options for audio that we are presently using, but I added a hack for the audio prompts on the PMs. I can add sound bites to the PM notifications, if you have some suggestions.

Where else would you like to have audio?

Was thinking

A page where we could all click and listen to say Bloomz's Floyd or Blues Cult or anybody's idea or download of their favorites. Kind of a share ideas with Music? I would love to hear Ryan selections of Music! Blues favorite is not the Cult...it's Zepplin, Floyd comes in a close second tho.

I know I'm crazy for even thinking up this idea....flowerchat with music backround selections from the users.

Hey I personally like phpBB, but I like most things free.

Hey just trying to get new ideas thats all, nothing for FREE just ideas to make an upward move into Retirement!

I'm asking because I'm trying to learn about vBullentin and phpBB. Geez...maybe I shouldn't have asked.
 
Happy to take suggestions ... I'm looking into a user-managed audio library system, or something like that. I'll have to see what's there, and what's to be had. Give me a couple says - I like the idea.

I don't quite understand what you are talking about Blue??? phpBB is free as far as I know unless something has changed.

But there is another board I have been looking at called Simple Machine (it is a vBulliten look alike also). It is pretty cool and hase tons of functions and add-ons. Though phpBB probably has more add-on (I think they are actually called MODS). Here is the link:

Ok, I located a most-excellent Jukebox addition for vBulletin that allows member uploads. Since the installation process can take an hour or more, I won't installing it until late today or sometime tomorrow.

I will post an annoucement when it's ready to go.
