Rep stopped in and said they are looking to add a preferred shop for my town. Before I said no thank you, I asked several questions. Here they are and the responses.
What are the fees? Worst case scenario, $269 a month.
What percentage does Bloomnet pay? 73% on incoming and 20% on outgoing. Same as TF.
Rebates? They pay with each sent order, not the 20 minimum. I actually get paid after 15. He said I must be a good negotiator. HA
How many orders were sent last month to my zip code? 34.
We were sent 14 in August and none in September. So if it was September, how does that order process work? Well, the system actually does it automatically. If there is a bloomnet shop, the computer transfers it there. If not, it goes TF Dove. If not, it goes FTD Merc. If not, it is called out.
Hmmm, that's odd. Until Oct. 1, we were the only shop that had Dove system. And, no one is Bloomnet, so how would that happen? I will have to look into that.
How does it work when 800 site has a sale on an arrangement? Does 800 eat the discount and give us the full amount of the arrangement cost? Ummmm no, florist are to do it for the discounted price.
So, not only the discounted price, but also 73% of the discounted price? Ummm yes.
And what about delivery? The orders that we get in from 800 never include delivery and we always have to call back and ask for it. What will change with that? Well, you should just take it out of the flowers then.
But doesn't that lead to an unhappy customer getting less than what they thought they paid for? Well, 9,000 florists across the country don't think so.
My other concern is that the average order value for 800 is less than it is for other shops...lots of 29.99 and 39.99 orders coming from you guys? Again, others seem to make it work.
I'm sorry, unless you can show me a side by side comparison how it would make me more money, I just can't do it? Well, our fees are lower.
Really, like what...and he went through the laundry list...and I said, no, got that one removed, that one too, no directory, no additional zips, etc. Yes, I am a really good negotiator. HA again.
Well, let me see if I can get you a small town discount and a higher incoming order percentage, and then it might make sense.
I doubt it, but knock yourself out.
Ahahahahahaha That was a fun exercise. I bet I never hear from him again.
