I just had to share with someone and my Hubby is not answering his phone...

I was just taking an order from a lady phoning from Rockhampton ( regional city in Queensland, known as Beef capital of Australia) and it was for a funeral tomorrow, she was quite upset and it took a while cause she was in tears for most of the conversation, anyway, when it got to the payment, she quoted her surname and well.... this lady turned out to be my favourite primary school teacher.! I went to school in a small country area outside of Rockhampton, and would you believe she recognised me straight away.. keep in mind, I am now 34.! I only had to tell her my first name and she described me as if I was still sitting there in her class.... I guess it was only a small class, but even after all the years you still wouldn't think she would.!

Of all the Florist shops in Brisbane, she called mine - how amazing is that? - It really confirms that everything happens for a reason - I mean - It not only made my day- but hers as well.!:squish:

It's funny, My brother was only talking about our Childhood there the other day - I can't wait to tell him either..!!!

That is so neat!!

That is a really heartwarming story. It's funny how things happen sometimes isn't it?

As a matter of fact I met or should say remet my fiance when he called to place an order for flowers going to his mother. He and my brother were friends in high school, I had a terrible crush on him but I was younger and just the little sister of his friend. He moved away right after high school and I never saw him again. My brother didn't keep in touch either. When he said his name, of course I recognized it and told him who I was. We chatted for quite some time and I caught him up on all his old friends that were still here. He started sending flowers to his mom more regularly and he always asked for me. About 2 years later, he decided to come for a visit, stopped by the shop and WHAM, we've been together ever since. He transferred 5 months later back here with his job. I still have a crush on him... lol

Very small world indeed! Beautiful to know that she was your favourite and sad that you happen to meet in such a sad way...but I bet she got off the phone knowing that you will do an amazing job!
Have a lovely day Karla, although I think you already are:)
p.s Vikki a great sweet crush, hope it lasts your whole life thru:)

What heartwarming stories! Being a former teacher, I can surely relate to the first one.

Small world here as well ... I helped a bride several years ago with her wedding flowers. As part of the consult, I asked the name of the groom and commented that I went to grade school 100 miles from here with a boy of the same name. It was the same person! She was a beautiful bride, and he was as cute as he was when we were 12 and I had mad crush love for him.

I was just so blown away that she remembered me... I guess it would help being a small school with small classes but WOW .. even after all those years.......I thought initially that all teachers would say " yea, I remember you" ... But I only got my first name out, not my surname and she immediatly described me to a tee - she said she still can see me sitting at my desk - and no I wasn't a horrid child ( well at that stage anyway - wouldn't of been game to say boo.!) so thats not the reason.........

Love it when we get to help the people we grew up with. Last year I had my 30 year class reunion. This week I got a call from one of my former class mates with an order. She remembered that I had a flower shop, so she ordered flowers for her Mom from me. I get lots of orders from my old classmates...love it when I get to do flowers for people that you really know.

One time I had an order on my website from a classmate to his parents here in town. He was at the time teaching in Japan, and had forgotten to sign the card message. I checked the web for the time difference, and figured that it was 3:00, so it would be fine to call him. I started the phone call with: in my normal perky voice I said "Hey there Curt it's Twila, how's it going?" "Fine" "It's been a while since we talked, so glad to see that you are sending flowers again to your parents...yada yada." finally he said "Twila, I appreciate you calling, but do you realize that it's 3 am? Oh my gosh, I had goofed by 12 hours! Luckily, he was good natured and forgave me and still orders for his parents.

One of my customers is my 3rd grade teacher. He has since retired...boy does that make me feel old. My favorite customer taught at my High School as an English Teacher when I attended.
