"The "advantages" of living on a ROCK....

must be overwhelming Hugh!! I personally came from UNDER a rock!!
Some power has been restored, and many people here, are still without....
HOWEVER, the Cactus Festival parade still went on last night, and it was a GREAT parade, and RYAN and JANIS didn't show up...I hope they are OK!!
Mike

Only one of the many advantages, as the song says " thank God we're surrounded by water". Bloody thankful I didn't have to try to sleep in 30+ degree temps without any fans , or even a cooked meal. I really feel sorry for a lot of fellow florists have lost the contents of their coolers and restraunters who will lose what they have in their freezers, etc. This is going to be expensive on a lot of people.

I came to work very very early in search of a kettle...I NEEED TEA! Thankfully there is power at the shop (not at home however).

Bank machines are still down, gas jumped almost 10 cents (funny how that happens isn't it), civilians directed traffic at the busiest intersections and people thanked them, neighbours checked on neighbours, the elderly, the house bound...a general sharing of ice and information was the rigeur...the darkness brought an invasion of porch people...where low voices and bursts of laughter puntuated the night...lamplight happily replaced by candlelight...

I hope they fix it soon however. ;)

It was definitely a wild trip home. We were about half way back to the Sault when the lights went out.

Fortunately, we'd gased up about ten minutes before everything went down. Got home and had fun carrying our luggage up the stairs in the dark... but we got home okay which is what counts.

I'm glad you're home safe and sound...and by now, no longer in the dark...thank God.

Lights finally came on here after 27 hours of no light. (home) Work lasted until 1 when the "rolling blackout" thing struck.

I wonder if there will be a population explosion next May. ;)

It's not like it was in the winter and you need the body heat. Here I was feeling sorry for you folks in the high temps and nothing to cool down with , oh well my Uncle was called the baby maker of Oshawa , was the engineer on the 5am train , too early to get up , too late to go back to sleep, so!!!!

That's so funny! It was too hot to do much of anything. Read a lot. Ate a lot of junk. Felt like a day on the front porch in the hills of Tennessee. Very laid back living. :handball:

Ok for a day ot two, glad to be back though.

I just switched over to notebook computers, and our phone systems have backups in other 2 other locations in North America, which kept things going, all really was fine here. Only downside was having a pail of Ice-cream for breakfast. :) hahaha Super-sized milk shake. :) Interesting thing I found was the Internet was up to dial into, and with the exception of the The Toronto Star most sites were up. I didn't know what had happened to the power, and logged on and went to the CBC.CA site and soon found out.

Well I have lost one of my coolers, at this point not too sure why?? Good job I was due to go to the Clock and not just been! Took advantage of this Power Out though - Called the local Funeral Homes and they were greatfull, took us up on the offer of candles to get them through that nights visitations (I bet they were spooky) I also called them on Friday to inform them that we were open for any business they needed that day......Just keeping the lines open...good for my business.
Any one lost any product????
Suzy

No product lost here Suzy (except at my home fridge). The power was restored at work Thursday night...and again Friday night.

What a good idea with the candles for the funeral homes...they would be grateful...no doubt.

Hopefully tomorrow won't bring any more "rolling blackouts".
