Thanks to the fine folks at AT&T (known at MTS Allstream here in Canada), we're down three phone lines today. This is the third time in a week that we've lost lines to their mistakes. All caused by a supposed "network upgrade."

Last week we lost our CC line for part of a day ... then when they tried to fix it they took out our DSL for over 24 hrs. Our only internet access was through the unsecured WIFI of someone in the neighbourhood (Thanks, dude, whoever you are!).

On Saturday, line 4 went down, and wasn't fixed until Monday night.

This morning, lines 1 & 3, plus our mercury line, went down. In testing they found that line 2 is about to go, so it's on the list of things to fix. Should be done by 5pm, they tell me.

We'll see ...

May the force be with you Ryan! We used to have a he ll of a time with AT & T lines... traditionally they would spaz out right before a major holiday. I hated dealing with them.

Sounds like us two Secretaries Week's ago. Switched phone companies, and some idiot couldn't read and started the process on Mon of Sec. Week. Was SUPPOSED to be the week AFTER. Was told our lines would only be "down" an hour. After 3 with only two lines, we finally got back up and running. Luckily, it was only the voice lines. CC, Merc and net access all left alone. To say the least, we switched back right away. Never again...

Best of luck to you Ryan...I know how fustrating it all is...

While we are on the "just perfect" topic...

The "main drag" that our shop sits on will be closed AGAIN (first Christmas, then homecoming, then Easter) Mother's Day and Prom weekend. They are shutting it down to A L L through traffic Friday and Saturday for re-paving. I'm right there with ya Ryan :(

Just Another Perfect Holiday,
Heather

Ryan.....

make sure you tell AT&T they OWE YOU ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for lost business, and you WILL BE PURSUING this with your lawyer...you'd be really surprised!!
I feel for ya...and thanks for the order...you have your confirm!!

I'm getting Rogers Home phone next week. It is hooked up through cable (as is my computer) and therefore no need for Bell lines. There is no increased cost and I actually will save %15 because Rogers now owns all of my communication devices... one bill and to be honest I'm happy about that.

And some will tell you the internet is not safe enough to hook to!

That's cuz Al Gore invented it...

But I like it...2-3 second POS CC clearings ROCK!!!!!

S'ok, Bossman ... during the 24-30 hours my DSL was down, I was thinking "Man, I'm glad I clear CC on the phone lines." I have lots of phone lines to play with, but only one DSL :)

Yea...I know....but in all honesty, I lose phone lines more than my Cable connection (knock on wood).....it's a catch 22 either way.

Only difference for me, is my phone company may take 1-3 days to fix something, and Charter Business Class has a guaranteed up time of 99.9% with a max 3 hour fix (again, knock on wood) and it's only ever gone down for less than 2 hours one time in 3 years (really knocking on wood this time)...
