Just thought I would share what else I do Christmas day in the hope it might inspire others to perhaps do the same sort of thing...

Well, instead of Crackers and all that other Rubbish that really is a waste of money I instead donate a gift on behalf of my guests.

This year I have bought Chickens, Tablets to Purify water, mosquito nets etc etc through World Vision and these things go to Communities around the World that are in need.

I spent $91 for 10 People - A much better investment I think than the 2 seconds of fun you get out of Christmas Crackers.

crackers

We have Christmas cookies, but never heard of Christmas crackers.
Are they like Ritz or Saltines??

"Christmas Crackers" if I am not mistaken... are like our Party Poppers that crack/pop with a little boom, and toys and candy pop out...

- Sorry didn't think you guys called "Crackers" something else...:)

We do call Savory Biscuits " crackers" so you got is half right, I guess BUT Boss got it right.. we have " Christmas Crackers" -a different type of Cracker... these are a Tubular Table Ornament thing that you pull and crappy paper hats and corny Jokes come out.

What do you guys call these then? Bon Bon Perhaps? - Thats the only other name I can think of for them??

I like crackers with my Fosters
What are Christmas Crackers?

In 1847, almost by accident, Tom Smith invented the cracker. it was a simple idea which became an integral part of British celebration and tradition which still continues today, 150 years on.
In its simplest form, a cracker is a small cardboard tube covered in a brightly colored twist of paper. When the cracker is pulled by two people, each holding one end of the twisted paper covered tube, the friction creates a small explosive 'pop'. This 'pop' is produced by a narrow strip of chemically impregnated paper. The cracker tears apart and out of the cardboard tube tumbles a bright paper hat, a small gift, a balloon and a motto or joke. It is a running joke that all the jokes and mottos in crackers are unfunny and unmemorable. Similarly, in most standard commercial products, the "gift" is equally awful, although wealthier individuals—notably, the royal family—may use custom crackers with more expensive rewards.
In addition to Christmas Crackers, "Crackers" are used as decorative party favors to celebrate a variety of other special occasions and festive events. The pulling of crackers and donning of the party hats creates a relaxed, festive atmosphere certain to get any party function off the ground. Crackers provide a colorful and exciting start to any celebration, and also present each guest with a gift by which to remember the days events. At Christmas, crackers make great tree ornaments, stocking stuffers, and welcoming gifts for visiting friends and relatives. They can also be used as invitations, promotional gifts, an advertising medium, shower and wedding favors, and individualized gifts for special occasions such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.
This is the remarkable story of the Cracker - an unique insight into one of Britain's most enduring traditions which continues to bring pleasure to all ages and generations, from children to grandparents.

I'm not gonna get into the crackers thing (I was thinking saltines) because every 5 minutes Karla and I are mocking each other for not speaking proper English.
lol
but that is a nice thing to do, great idea Karla!

Speaking of "Proper English"....this afternoon the phone rang and I heard my employee say "Can I tell her who is calling?" She came to the office with a funny expression and said "I couldn't understand her name, she sounds pretty foreign".

It was none other than our own Karla!!! We are constantly telling one another that it is the other person that has the "Thick Accent". See Karla, I told you it was you and not me!!!

Thanks for the call...it sure helped my day.
...How about a few purple dots...just cuz?!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we in the U.S. don't really "do" crackers. It's pretty rare, I think.
