Yesterday was a long day for me and ended up being even longer when a family showed up to order a casket spray. I was energetic until the daughter of the deceased began bashing a spray that was in the cooler.

Here we go, I thought.

She didn't like flat fern, she didn't like peonies, she didn't like carnations, she didn't like the roses I used...and this went on and on and on.

I knew she had a "picture" in her mind of what the spray would look like and I hate that because whenever a customer pictures something it's not exactly what you end up creating and they end up disappointed.

I finished the spray up and had put my own spin on what she had requested. I included all her flower choices and added a few of my own because she had only chosen line flowers and roses so I had nothing else to use to fill in or accent with.

I still cringed when she walked through the door. I just had a feeling she was going to complain about something. But, nope. She loved it and raved about it to her husband for what seemed like hours. I showed her the hydrangea and orchids that I added to the order because she had forgotten to choose a white flower. She didn't care because it was peeerfect. She finally said as she walked out the door...

"I should have just trusted that you would do a wonderful job. Thank you so much, it's beautiful."

I attached a picture. It's blurry because my blackberry camera is crap. But, you get the idea.

I'm just glad that's over and I can now finish the 15 other pieces I have for this funeral. *sigh*

I don't like that it is floating in air.

Lol, tell my landlord. I'm not allowed to paint :(

Aw, Thom...you edited your post after I replied.

Lol...I'm a magician in my spare time...it's not floating - it's levitating!

Seriously though, it's on this little fish shaped stool thing. I just took the pics because I knew if I didn't someone would reply to my thread and say...did you take a pic?!?

Well done Heather it's gorgeous.Just enjoy the other 15 pieces you have to do as lots of people out there would be very glad of the work. You'll get through it .:thumbsup:yourock:

Heather, blurry or not... it's just lovely. :)

Don't you just love it when people come in and tell you how to design. Didn't they come to the floral professional to begin with? And invariably you end up second guessing yourself and get worked up usually for nothing! Your spray is very pretty btw.

Thanks :) She was a wedding photographer, no less. You are right. I stewed over it all night last night and the entire time I was making it. Usually takes me 15-20 minutes to knock out a spray. It was closer to an hour today. Ugh.

oh Heather...when MY time "comes" can you do one JUST LIKE THAT, for me??....cause I know you can!!
P.S. I'd like to be "levitated" as well...... :)

Mikey, I'd be honored ;) I thought I could come up with something smart to reply to the levitating comment but, I just don't have the brain left today so I'll leave it up to V :>

Sweet work there.
I'm doing a solid red rose tonight for a man, just rose and green's.... wishing mine turns out as well liked as yours. Early funeral, grand kids spray left to do.
Burning the mid night oil tonight. Another spray for a lady after that...
then work on a 39th birthday vase. But hey. I'm so glad for the work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gorgeous Spray - You did an incredible job.

Very, very pretty.
Great proportion.
I think casket sprays should be low, bringing eyes to the deceased, if the casket is half open.

I have been overwhelmed with funeral work this week.
Seems like it's happening all over.
