I wasn't quite sure which forum this question belonged in so please feel free to move it to the appropriate one!

Do night jobs even exist in the floral industry?? I was wondering this. Since the subject of daycare for my wee ones is proving to be puzzle that has yet to be solved, I was thinking if their were night shift opportunities related to the floral industry at least I would definitely want to try for them. Anyone know??

Maybe at some huge warehouse florists...but I doubt you will find anything with a night shift...Maybe 8 pm the latest..

My shop is located in a major shopping center (Westfield UTC), so we are required to stay open until 9pm minimum. I think that's about as late as it gets for a florist. I think some of the event companies work into the wee hours.

Thanks LJVF for the suggestion...event companies. Well even if it isn't designing but related to the floral industry in some way I'd be happy at this point!! ;)
Someone had suggested that I just work out of my home...how realistic is that though? I mean, can one really bring in a decent income by doing that??

If you have experience with weddings, I've known several people that had success doing it out of their home.

I think Kathy Wright, Raphael's Party Rentals, Wholesale Flowers on Metro St., do flowers for events. I'm not sure their hours though. I'm sure Friday nights and weekends are big for them.

I don't know about the other folks but I just got home about an hour ago,our days lately start at 5pm on, way to old for this, I need a day off..wish you were in my area dear, you have so much drive, who ever hires you will be truely blessed. Wish my new girls had this, they drive me over the edge move way to slow for me,,,,

awwww QUEEN!! You are soo sweet...thank you for that compliment. I needed that lift. HUGS!

Aileen - in my region there are 4 other florists who work from there home (I'm the only dum-bo renting space). We are a destination resort so each florists books about 30+ weddings per season. You need ample space for flowers and cooler (our average wedding size is 150 guests), a nice space for consultations, any permits that SD requires for home occupations and of course staff that will work weekends. I too have twins and pay a boat-load in childcare because I rent space. If you started small, I'm sure you could manage the kids and weddings too out of your home.
