Two months ago we began to charge justflowers.com a $1 "Re-Processing Fee" every time they resend an order after they "Cancel" it. As most of you know, when you send an "Ask" to justflowers.com for more money their typical pattern is to automatically shoot-out a "Cancel" with out any fore thought.

Well, I thought, you know, if I'm going to spend time on their company to tell them why we need more money multiple times on an order, then I'm going to charge them a buck for every time.

To make a long story short, two weeks ago, what was a $42 dollar order cost them $55 in the end before they finally agreed to my demand (that means they sent me the same order 14 times). I only wanted $5 extra dollars on the onset but because of their repeated cancels I ended up with $55 which they agree to give.

Since that time, I've done this serveral times and each time they not only give me the extra delivery money, but they've kicked down the extra bucks too when they screwed up on spitting out a Cancel too fast.

I told my rep I was going to start this because of all the time on spend on justflowers.com. He said he didn't see a problem with it given the situation.

....and yes, we are the only FTD florist in our area. Gotta em' where it hurts.

Good ploy... I **might** have to give this a try.

Last week, I told them, after fighting with two orders, that from this point on I would not notify them in *any way* and that the orders would not be filled, should they choose to send me more of their skimmed, junk orders.

Considering the fact that they are willing to give you more money on every order, it seems to me that they are skimming on every order. There is no way they would give up funds out of their own pockets to get orders filled.

Something to think about.

real question

The real question here is why are you even doing any business with this OG, after all the posting about the evils of all OG's on this board?

my sentiments exactly!!.....
On the other hand....a very good tactic to use!!:)

Gotta em' where it hurts.

If that is really what you want to do refuse their orders..no one else can fill them and they will have to call back the customer and say they can not get it filled..the customer will/should find you on line and send the order direct to you. A florist friend shut down 800flowers at Mothers day and 800flowers had to list his area as not deliverable.. so he got lots of these orders direct. Heard last week 800flowers was making nice with him to convince him to let their orders flow again.

I started this trend a few years ago in my shop. Everytime I had to send a price increase for any reason, extra money was also asked mfor my time.

It worked so well, that the other florist inmy town gets to fill all of those undervalue orders and I go for the 100% orders she cant fill.
I also fill those orders that do come my way that are making money for me.

I am aware of evils. We are very picky on what to accept or not to accept. We only list for our immediate area and any order not coming to our immedate location must be put on a Credit Card.

In other words, we do not do "also served by." So, lets say, FTD.com wants to send flowers to our nearest neighboring town a whopping 2 miles away....well, then, they'll have to put it on their Credit Card which we have on file. Since we have 3 stores....and cover 500 square miles of delivery, you can factor in a lot of Credit Card use by other companies. In fact, for Credit Card use, Teleflora.com is our biggest customer next to flowersfromyou.com (justflowers is right behind them).

We view incomings like the black plaque. We'd rather *Send* as much as possible. The least amount of incomings the better.

I still don't get it

I still don't get it. If you are the only way they will get their orders delivered, why fill for them in the first place? I know they don't have a problem giving you 100% of the order because they still are making their service fee.

And if so many people are using them, those people represent customers that are not coming to you direct. If that's the case, either you are doing something wrong with your website, or your phone staff is not instilling enough confidence in the consumers to place theri orders directly. But I still feel by allowing those companies access to your market is not in your best interest.

To me filling orders for OG's is like being a wh_re. Filling with a credit card or at 100% just makes you a high priced wh_re.

So when you charge out the credit cards of those three do you get 100% or do they get the 26% +/- off??

BOSS's Quote of the day!!

There ya go!

How would you really know?? and would you believe them if they told you?? pretty sure I wouldn't

You are correct. Especially with justflowers. However, with TLF they always give their product ID and reference their website and so far I've seen no skimming.
